In 1972 Cruise America was conceived by the Florida born Robert Smalley Senior. Robert had spent many years with the car rental company Hertz, before he saw a massive untapped market in the RV and motorhome arena. So he decided to pursue this venture with everything he had.
Even though Cruise America was once a publicly traded company, then sold to the Budget car hire group, and then sold back to its original founder, today it remains the United States largest privately owned campervan, RV and motorhome company.
The Cruise America group is now based out of Mesa, Arizona and have over 130 locations across the USA and Canada. The company provides employment for over 300 personnel. The company very much so remains a family business, with Roberts two boys, Robert Junior and Randall coming into the business as soon as they had finished college. Both of the boys are still actively involved in the business today.
Cruise America motorhome rentals offer a solid range of vehicles for hire, based on three, five, six or seven people.
