Hiking in the Tatra Mountains, private tour from Krakow

The tour is led by English speaking licensed mountain guide. The tour leader will familiarize you with the mountains, their nature, history and culture of Gorale - local highlanders. Additionally, the guide will bring scientific equipment like humidity, temperature probes and binoculars which will help you to better understand the nature. The tour starts in Kuznice where you will use a modern cable car to get to the Kasprowy Wierch. It is a prominent summit at the Polish-Slovakian border with meteorological and astronomical observatories. The tour continues through Beskid (2012 m), Liliowe Pass and reaches meadows of Hala Gąsienicowa. You will find there a laid in stone shelter and have a lunch break. Having arrived at the former camp, we'll remember the tragic events which took place here from 1943 onwards, when Płaszów began to receive thousands of Jews from the Krakow ghetto. You will get to learn about the remarkable history of Krakow city during the holocaust. The camp and life in it are shown in the Schindler's List movie (1993) about the life of Oskar Schindler. The area which held the camp now consists of sparsely wooded hills and fields, with one large memorial to all the victims, erected in 1964 and few smaller. As the Plaszow area is now a nature preserve, so the director Steven Spielberg built a camp replica in the Liban Quarry, some hundred meters away.
