Wildlife Safari Experience by Kayak

They never showed up. After standing on the side of the road for an hour and attempting unsuccessfully to reach them by WhatsApp, and through Viator, I contacted Viator directly and learned that Calypso had canceled the trip and neglected to alert me.

Very disappointed as this wasted a day of my vacation because of their unprofessionalism.

Luckily, I booked through Viator so I’ve received a speedy refund.

The kayaking was one of the highlights of our time in Costa Rica. Bethshiva, Andres and the team went over and above the call of duty to deliver an incredible tour — not only pointing out the multitude of animals along the way, but also sharing so many insights about them and conservation more broadly in Costa Rica. It felt we were in the hands of pros, who do what they do with huge care and heart. Highly, highly recommended!

The animals were amazing! We saw howler monkeys everywhere, plus babies! There were white faced monkeys, iguana, porcupine in a tree, owl, a sloth and at the very end we saw a crocodile!! This should not be your first kayaking experience!! 😁💜

We really enjoyed our rafting trip with Josh who was enthusiastic, informative and had a great eye for finding sloths we saw 3 along the river along with loads of interesting birds and monkeys.

Bathsheba was also very informative and lovely to work with, we would highly recommend booking a trip with Calypso Adventures.

Miguel was our guide, and Carlos was our driver. Both were very pleasant and upbeat Miguel was humorous, upbeat, energetic, and was able to spot animals we'd never have seen on our own. We laughed a lot during the trip. Miguel was very knowledgeable about the wildlife. When I mentioned that I like bats and leaf-cutter ants, he took us to a place to see both. He advocated for the wildlife, including the ants and bats which are often demonized. He explained the importance and value of the ants, bats, and other wildlife. We appreciate Costa Ricans' attitude towards wildlife and their enthusiasm in educating tourists. Also, the banana bread and food/drinks we had at the cafe, at the end of the tour, was awesome.

Miguel is a great naturalist with a wonderful sense of humor. Really nice to have a guide all to ourselves.

Very nice tour! Although the price was a little bit high for a half-day activitiy we had a great time. We could enjoy a very personal experience which was brought to us by a lovely two man business. We basically had a private tour where the guide explained and taught us a lot about the local flora and fauna. The service was great, including pick-up and drop-off at our hostel.

Our trip was amazing! Beth was personable and hilarious. Our guide was very knowledgeable and even showed us how to howl to the Howler monkey. It was an unforgettable experience. I would highly recommend using them. The beers and pineapple didn't hurt either!

We had a wonderful experience. Jose our guide was super knowledgeable about all the plants, animals and everything Costa Rican! His English was suberb and he knew all the right spots to pull over and check things out. We saw so many birds, howler monkeys, iguanas and the coolest little bats! This was an amazing way to get to see wildlife without seeing other tourists and really feeling immersed in the rain forest.
Bethshiva the owner was extremely friendly and made us feel like we were at home and with friends. A great company to use, they genuinely want you to have an awesome adventure and are not trying to rip you off like some other places we have experienced.
