Very interesting visit. Carlos explains very well the particularities of the species and the causes of their presence in this rehabilitation space. The cause is noble and the price of the visit helps them continue their action.

Such a great place. Love the education and stories behind each animal being rescued. Note that it's a 30-45 minutes drive from La Fortuna but definitely worth visiting and taking a tour.

Proyecto Asis is primarily a wildlife rehabilitation center with a focus on releasing animals back into the wild, and the care for the animals shows in the tour. Tours are given in order to allow visitors to observe the animals ethically and to provide education; on our tour, we were able to observe rescued monkeys, macaws, toucans and more while also learning a great deal about the animals and the challenges that Costa Rica faces in protecting their wildlife. Carlos was a fantastic tour guide -- both funny and informative. I'm glad that we made the trip!

We were unsure what this would entail and are thrilled we went. Bradley lead our group. He is so informative, engaging and funny. This is appropriate for people with a wide knowledge of tropical animals and birds. We are well versed and still learned a lot about each animal.

I’m not a big fan of zoos but these animals were rescued; many of them were injured. They receive constant veterinary care as well intellectual stimulation.

We also did the volunteer part and really enjoyed it. We would highly recommend this tour.

The tour was highly informative and interesting. Carlos was a fantastic tour guide. We learned about conservation efforts in Costa Rica and how the animals at Proyecto Asis are rehabilitated. We loved the volunteering add-on, where we got to prepare food for the animals and learned about the unique feeding methods. Recommend this activity for something both engaging and educational.

The best wildlife tour I have ever been on. Carlos was the most knowledgeable, funny and committed guide I have ever had on a tour. He was able to impart valuable lessons about conservation in a funny and nonpreachy way. I would give 6 stars if I could.

My friend recommended this place to me and I’m glad we went! We just came from the combo wildlife tour and feeding experience; highly recommend to the point where I’m writing this in the car! Our guide Carlos was incredibly charismatic and funny; he was interactive, very knowledgeable about the different animals (they save animals that were pets/injured) and gave us insights into the project’s rehabilitation efforts. After the wildlife tour of the animals at the refuge, we took a break where the guide offered us lemonade, coffee, and cookies/pineapple jam mini empanadas. Then, we cut up the fruit for the animals and watched them eat. I liked that they really cared about the animals, ie: having a movement about “stop animal selfies” and limit the groups to 12-15 people tops as to not overwhelm them. If you’re an animal lover visiting La Fortuna, definitely make a stop here!

Small cages. Can understand these animals can’t be released into the wild with much success, but their living conditions at Proyecto Asis seem less than ideal. Surprised how well this is rated. More of a zoo than a wild rehab environment.

We took the wildlife tour + volunteering. Would definitely recommend the place. Very nice staff and an informative tour guide. A great idea to have guests prepare the food and feed the animals. Both for kids and grown ups.
I would definitely recommend.
