To be honest, I was worried about this adventure. I'm in okay shape, and thought that the kayaking/hiking combo would be too much for me. I sure am glad that I went! Zack, our guide was very clear setting out that this was, in total, 4 miles of kayaking and 3 miles of hiking. AS he explained this to our group of 10, it was raining. My partner and I adjusted pretty quickly to the tandem kayak. We've done a little bit of kayaking in singles, but the tandem was new to us. The water was perfectly calm and flat, with the only obstacles being other kayakers all making their way to the same point. The first leg of the trip, kayaking to the start of the hike was easy and uneventful. It rained on and off throughout the day, so the hike itself was very muddy. I recommend water shoes or sandals. I had open toed hiking sandals that were perfect, and my partner had close toed water shoes that also worked just fine. Other in our group wore socks and sneakers and were immediately soaked through. The hike was muddy and slippery most of the way, with a few small inclines. Zack hiked ahead and waited for the group to catch up. This worked quite well. We told us more than once not to rush, and to hike at our own pace. I had no trouble keeping up. The falls were breathtaking! The water was rushing on the day that we were there. My partner and I swam and actually worked our way to behind the falls. This was an incredible experience for both of us that is hard to describe here. We spent so much time in the water that we didn't have much time for lunch. The hike back was a little harder, mostly because we were soaked and tired. The kayaking trip back also seemed more challenging, our arms were tired and we were ready for it to be over by then. Don't miss this experience! But remember to;
- wear the right shoes!
- bring sunscreen
- bring bug spray
- pack light! Everything you bring you'll have to hike with in a dry bag
- bring high protein snacks
- bring plenty of water

We had so much fun on this kayak and hiking tour! There had been a lot of rain, so we weren't able to hike all the way to the falls, but our guide, Zack, made it fun and informative nonetheless. He also gave us great recommendations for places to eat and visit!

Annie was an absolutely wonderful guide and it was so awesome she was willing to guide my family on Christmas Day! The kayak, hike, and breathtaking waterfall were all magnificent!

We actually did not go on this tour because Duke's cancelled due to heavy rains and flooding. We give them 5 stars for caring about their customer's safety and putting service before money. Another tour we booked did not cancel and would not refund our money even though we did not think it was safe to proceed because of the flash flood warnings and heavy rains. Thank you Dukes for your considerations and we will try again on our next visit to Kauai.

Great experience with beautiful waterfall at the end of the hike. Definitely recommended but bring hiking shoes!

This adventure was the best choice we made on our Kauai trip. Annie was absolutely the most AMAZING tour guide anyone could ask for. She has a lot of knowledge about the area, is very funny/engaging, is very great with kids, and has many recommendations on what else to do in Kauai. The waterfall at the end of the hike is 100% worth it. Definitely wear water shoes and a bathing suit. 10/10 would recommend this trip.

Hawaiian Brian was the best!
Muddy 1.5 mile hike and no water or snacks provided, so bring your own.
Beautiful water fall and easy kayak.

This was amazing! The Kayaking was fun and the hike wasn't too bad. The Secret Falls were spectacular and it was fun to swim at the bottom of the falls. Lunch was a nice touch, and the chickens just added to the experience. I would do this again.

The guide, Izzy, and the other guests made for a remarkable experience! The river was serene and afforded amazing views. But Izzy made the trip from great to fantastic, cannot praise her guiding and attitude enough!
