My husband I I thoroughly enjoyed our time here. They do a wonderful job with their facilities and with their mission to release the creatures they can back into the wild after rehabilitation. The guide was very knowledgeable and well spoken. We enjoyed measuring out the food for the birds and monkeys and then watching them dine. There were people of all ages in our group.

We had such a great time on this tour and volunteer experience with our two young daughters. Carlos was a fantastic guide, very informative and added a ton of humor and endless laughs to our tour. You can tell they really care about rehabilitation at Proyecto Asis, and give their animals the best care while there.
Our kids loved preparing food for the monkeys, and still talk about it daily. We will definitely be back next time we're in La Fortuna!
I would recommend this tour for families with younger kids as it's totally safe for them, and they can easily help with the volunteer experience.

A brilliantly guided and thoughtfully organised experience. Over three hours we had a introduction to the animals including lots of insights about behaviours and the rehabilitation process, followed by preparing some animal lunches.

My 9 year old daughter and I just spent an amazing week volunteering with and learning about the animals. We had previously visited and enjoyed the tour before and decided to return to volunteer and work on our Spanish. We stayed in a homestay on a farm that raised different fruits with a wonderful Costa Rican grandmother. Every day she tried to keep my picky child happy with different food choices and showed us her farm. My daughter managed to find toads, frogs and lizards around the grounds.
We fed the animals daily, made them enrichment toys, helped clean cages and other light maintenance. The staff was wonderful. Hopefully we can return in the future.
They also have an apartment on the animal sanctuary grounds you can stay in with wonderful views. It’s very clean and spacious. It has a small kitchen with everything you could need for an extended stay. There is a short video of the apartment on their website.

Absolutely love this place and everything it stands for. Carlos was amazing. My 19 yr old daughter and i did the tour and volunteered. It was very informative. I highly recommend. Carlos even pointed out a sloth and took pictures and a video for us. We even got to take a coffee break halfway through the tour. On the way back to our hotel, my daughter and i even discussed going back and doing the volunteer program. I can not say enough positive things about this place. I wish people were more aware of what happens when you try and domesticate wild animals. And did I mention how amazing Carlos was ? If you you in costa rica, this place is a must see.

This was a highlight on our trip in Costa Rica. Our informative guide Carlos provided an amazing educational experience for my entire family. He was knowledgeable and charismatic. His passion for the animal is evident. This nature sanctuary is doing amazing work with the animals they are caring for. We saw macaws, parrots, spider monkeys, white-faced monkeys and even a sloth high up in the tree. We learned about wildlife and the importance of leaving wildlife in the wild. We also helped prepare the food treat boxes for the animals. Come support this wonderful organization and all the great work they do for animals!

My husband and I loved getting to tour and learn more about the animal sanctuary. Our guide Carlos was very informative and we could tell he loves what he does. If you're going to do the tour I 100% recommend including the volunteering piece as getting to build lunch and toys for the animals was such a fun expierence!
