Not much good to say about this trip unfortunately! No one showed up after sending a 1 am text changing location pickup. I had called day before inquiring due to potential inclement weather. Couldn’t speak to anyone local.
I will say Trip Advisor quickly refunded my money when I submitted a request.

We took the metro and figured out where to meet as the pier was changed that morning. 10 in our group with Maria. This was old hat to her. She knew her history, her pacing and how to instruct us. We were 6 out of her 10 and another girl had another 10 people with us. We were grandparents, son and DIL, and two grands 9 and 11. We were first to board the boat that was the same boat you could take without a tour. So maybe the guided tour wasn’t necessary. But it is a comfort level. We had free muffin, coffee on the trip over. It was in the 60’s so we didn’t ride up top in the open. Downstairs the rail/side around the boat was high so sitting you couldn’t see the shore. If it was lower it would have been great. Upon arrival we were given instruction and followed Maria to various areas. Sheep shearing was going on in the barn and folks were dressed in period costume. The blacksmith was making tools. Some of the rooms in the house were closed. We saw the bed where GW died. The day before we saw the bed where Lincoln died. I wonder if the grandchildren thought this was weird. There were people placed around the site to answer questions. The large gift shop and lunch area was well organized. We could pick out any lunch items capping at $20 which was fine. We ate at tables there and had some free shopping time. We visited the graves. It was a beautiful day and we enjoyed the trip. The ride home we caught a nap. It was as expected.

Fantastic day out.
Our guide for the day was called Ayana and was excellent. She is a native of Washington DC and was extremely knowledgeable.
Started with a leisurely trip on a boat from the Wharf and headed to Mount Vernon.
Learnt a lot about the life of George Washington and had a insight into life at that time.
Very fortunate our tour coincided with a battle reinactment weekend which portrayed the war of independence.
Professional and informative tour.
Highly recommend

This was an absolutely marvelous trip. Janna was awesome!!! The continental breakfast was just that so please don't expect more. The overall tour was very informative and as I said - Janna was amazing. The "lunch" on the return trip was fine - sandwich and snacks. Definitely a worthwhile excursion.

The tour was well-organized so attendees could concentrate on “seeing and learning”. Ryan was our guide and he was knowledgable, personable and fun! The river cruise was relaxing and enjoyable.

The tour was extremely interesting. It really gives a good idea of what live of G Washington and Martha was with a significant and appropriate emphasis on slavery.

Ayana was the best guide. She was there early to greet us and was a wealth of enthusiastic information. I enjoyed the knowledge and perspective she shared with us and was friendly helpful and willing to answer any questions. We enjoyed the staff on the boat ride, very helpful and friendly!

Ayana, our tour director was awesome. Very knowledgeable and accommodating-
especially when my wife was late to the boat…. Ayana is a true champion.

The trees and “organized” greenery was spectacular And while we were there, the folks at the farm was serving “traditional” 18th C. food . Very cool.
