This trip is well organised, but the guide wasn’t very helpful and dismissed any enquiries we had. She also disappeared when we arrived at the gardens. Her name was Anna.

Our guide often left me in exasperation, as we constantly stopped and had to listen to an unnecessarily extensive and specific explanation of a particular piece of art, or sculpture, or room in the castle. As these tours seem to be hosted by former art history majors, I heard the words Louis the 14th, or Louis the 15th more times than you can imagine. We need more walk, and less talk. Our views of the gardens was beautiful, so we didn't feel the need to rent a golf cart, and ride around an array of sculpted foliage. We were lucky enough to get the water fountains show with music. Overall it did not exceed my expectations. Versailles' ridiculous opulence is overwhelming, and actually absurd. It was entertaining, but too much specific explanation was given to too many things...nearly all of which no one will ever remember.

Viator gave the wrong information for designation point and dozens of us were left riding the Metro up and down lengthy stairs. Desperately trying to get to the new meeting point. The tour guy was really nice and helped rebook some of us who were leaving Paris soon. I will let you know how Versailles is when I get it. Our new rescheduled date is Sunday. The trip dashing up and downstairs to get through two stops to the Metro was not a joy

Architecture is fantastic. Crowds are inevitable, so don’t do this without a guide. Paintings uninspiring but educational.

Anastasia is a wonderful guide, she is concerned about everyone in the group, making sure everybody sees and hears about the beautiful rooms and paintings. Would definitely recommend this tour.

Overall we enjoyed the experience with Viator for our trip to Versailles. Transportation was easy and seamless and left on time both ways. Our tour guide Julie was super nice, spoke English well and was very knowledgeable. The one thing that we were not entirely pleased with was too much stop and talk in the Palace and not enough to nearly no time in the gardens (considering we wanted to take the bus back). When we finally entered the gardens, Julie kept walking and we had no time to enjoy them and take it in. Buy the time she left us to wander before the bus it was time to walk to the bus if we didn’t want to miss it. That part was a little disappointing. Overall our time in Versailles was pleasant.

When I booked this tour, the description said 4 hours. This is false. You need to plan for 6 hours. It takes 1 hour to get to Versailles, 4 hours for the tour, and 1 hour to return. My group had to take an Uber to the catacombs because I booked that based on the time given in the description. That was an added expense that we didn’t need. The Tour Guy didn’t even use their own guide for this tour. City Wonders was the company that provided the guide. Just book with them and forget The Tour Guy. I rated them on their website, and my review hasn’t posted yet. I wonder if it ever will.
