Architecture is fantastic. Crowds are inevitable, so don’t do this without a guide. Paintings uninspiring but educational.

Overall we enjoyed the experience with Viator for our trip to Versailles. Transportation was easy and seamless and left on time both ways. Our tour guide Julie was super nice, spoke English well and was very knowledgeable. The one thing that we were not entirely pleased with was too much stop and talk in the Palace and not enough to nearly no time in the gardens (considering we wanted to take the bus back). When we finally entered the gardens, Julie kept walking and we had no time to enjoy them and take it in. Buy the time she left us to wander before the bus it was time to walk to the bus if we didn’t want to miss it. That part was a little disappointing. Overall our time in Versailles was pleasant.

When I booked this tour, the description said 4 hours. This is false. You need to plan for 6 hours. It takes 1 hour to get to Versailles, 4 hours for the tour, and 1 hour to return. My group had to take an Uber to the catacombs because I booked that based on the time given in the description. That was an added expense that we didn’t need. The Tour Guy didn’t even use their own guide for this tour. City Wonders was the company that provided the guide. Just book with them and forget The Tour Guy. I rated them on their website, and my review hasn’t posted yet. I wonder if it ever will.

Marie, our guide, made the best of another cold and rainy day. She was on time, organized, and very knowledgeable about Versailles and its history. Although this was a “skip-the-line” package, you should be prepared for some waiting through security checks that everyone visiting the palace has to go through. Some members of our group were not so understanding and came across as rude to our guide. Marie handled everything with grace and professionalism to control the situation and was very good about moving us through the tour and navigating the crowds.

I loved the fact that our tour guide took up in the side way to beat the lines. Everything was beautiful but the crowds are a little overwhelming. A great guide who knew her history and made it all very enjoyable.

This group tour allowed us to skip the line which was a great help considering how long the line was when we arrived. Marie was our guide and she was exceptionally knowledgeable about the history of Versailles and its place in the French history. She expertly helped our group navigate the crowd inside the palace so we could have the best views and use of our time inside. I highly recommend this tour, mostly thanks to Marie. Note: The group size was larger than I had expected (19-20 people) but with the earphone, we had no problem hearing Marie.
