small quiet street 5 minutes from Saint Mark's Square. A very good restaurant at the end of the street, simple but effective. French speaking staff, an asset, a simple small downside in the rooms, lack of space to hang clothes, a simple wardrobe, but everything else is there for a good stay: shower, bathtub, toiletries, slippers, bidet ....

History of the St Marks. The commentary of the guide was wonderful and educational. Was thankful for the short breaks. Only downside, the title inferred your of the Bascilica and Doges Palace. It didn’t say there was an hour walking tour first. We weren’t able to see St Marks because was described wrong.

Our guide was amazing. She was knowledgeable, kind, and funny. We were so happy we got her for both parts of our tour.

This was so disappointing. The tour seems straightforward enough. Starts at 9am, lasts 2.5 hours. This was my first Viator tour of a long trip. I signed up for this with plans to have lunch afterwards with a friend and go on a more substantial private tour in the early afternoon. I didn’t review details until I was headed to Venice exactly 24 hours before. At about the 23.5 hour before mark, while studying deeply-buried details at the airport in Germany, I discovered that this tour has a large gap in its timing. You walk for an hour at 9am, then are on your own doing…whatever…until the tour resumes at 11:45, going for another hour or more, presumably. So a 2.5 hour tour takes up half of a day. How ridiculous! So I messaged the operator, literally 23.5 hours before the tour, telling them I could not cancel my lunch plans and other later tour, all of which kicked off at 12:30. And their answer: it’s less than 24 hours before the tour, nothing can be done. Are you kidding me? At 23.5 hours before? You won’t extend to me this courtesy because of your foolishness? Well, I learned my lesson about these tours, and was much more careful to scrutinize the details of the future ones. But buyer beware! There are so many tour options for Venice - I’d use someone else.

Venice Tours Srl- tour of Doges Palace and St. Marks - what a scam! This was the worst tour we have ever been on. This tour was not as described or as we paid for. We arrived at the appointed meeting place at 10:15 for a 3 hour tour and were met by a Venice Tours Srl gondola guide who showed us two cheesy VR images and then took us to a different location and a different tour company where we WAITED until close to 11:30. We paid for a small group tour - 20 or under - and our group was at least 23 people. The tour guide was terrible, he mumbled and was very hard to understand. He did not know where he was going and took us to the wrong line at the Palace where we waited until a Palace employee showed him where to take us for skip the line. The tour was only 2 hours long (the third hour was the wait!). After the tour I went back to the Venice Tours office where the staff gave me the run around and said to send an email explaining the situation. I wrote two emails and never heard back from Venice Tours. I feel this was a scam and I would NOT recommend using this tour company.

Doge’s palace part was excellent! Walking tour of city landmarks was just ok, a little too much focus on high tide and COVID tourism. It lacked the “color” I was looking for, but I did get that in the second half of the tour with Doge’s palace. Worth it, if nothing else, than to skip the incredibly long line at the Doge’s palace. Recommend doing a 9am tour to beat the incredible crowds at San Marco and actually experience the magic of the place more intimately.

Really appreciated skipping the queue and having access to the terrace and weaponery/prison rooms. Our guide (Tulia) was highly knowledgeable and informative but non-stop commentary for 3 hours was overwhelming. I won’t recall 80% of it and often switched off which meant missing some good stories. I think in each room have 3 key insights then open it to questions. Check in with the group if the info is too much or too little. Frequently pause and ask what are they noticing or intrigued by and then explain that.

This tour was very thorough and complete. Our group was comprised of about 30 persons with headsets. We were able to hear our guide. We skipped the lines into both sites. We did not see the horse sculptures from Constantinople. It was not included. But, they were available for an additional cost after you completed St. Marks. Just don't leave the cathedral with the group. Return your headset to the guide. There is an additional cost to go upstairs to see them. If you only have a short amount of time in Venice, these two historic sites are a must. I doubt young children would enjoy this.

This was so much more than I expected! We met our tour guide at 9 sharp outside St Marks Basilica and we’re given individual headsets in order to hear our guide. Unfortunately I didn’t get the name of our guide but she made this tour! The first part of our tour involved walking around some of the back streets around St Marks and being given a brief history of so many different aspects of life in Venice. Our tour guide was extremely passionate, knowledgeable, funny and entertaining. We learned loads and just wish we’d have taken this tour earlier in our stay. Once in Doge’s Palace the knowledge and passion continued. We were blown away by not only the interior but the history behind it all. The tickets also allow you access for 4 of the museums around St Marks up to 2 months from your visit so you can go at your leisure. Loved this tour and would highly recommend anyone travelling to Venice to take this tour early into the visit to allow you to use the museum passes at your leisure. Wish we had got our tour guides name as she was amazing, loved her!!
