This tour was very informative... a little too informative for my preference. If you are an art history enthusiast, then this is the tour for you. If you are looking for something a little lighter/breezier, then maybe avoid this tour. This tour took over 3 hours and left us little time to explore the piazza after.

This was a well organized tour. Though the Vatican Museum was full of wonderful collections and sculptures it was long. The tour guide was knowledgeable and gave a wonderful talk outside with photos about the Sistine Chapel which helped to understand the ceiling paintings. St Peter's Basilica was breathtaking, especially La Pieta. The guide explained the residence of the Pope and when he made appearances. We walked around the outside square, saw the Swiss guards to the Vatican and the life size Nativity.

A must visit place, too crowded though and not enough time to see all the exhibits within 3 hours, was rushed.

Not satisfied with Viator’s ticket and instructions. Although we had booked the entry ticket only, We had lost a lot of time until we managed to get in the museum since we should wait for all the people with same tickets to get inside, also our guider confused the waiting lines with the result to lose more time outside. Also, although Viator sells visit in Basilica as an additional attraction in the ticket we booked, we have told that Basilica had free entrance with no ticket required. We booked the ticket at 15.15, and with the delays of the process to get in the museum we finished our tour at 5.30 and we planned to go to the Basilica. Nowhere is clear that Basilica closes at 6, that is 15 min away from the museum and that we can visit that attraction separately at our own time, with the result of not managing to visit Basilica, although we could have done that before visiting the museum.

I would not recommend this tour to anyone. First off, it’s advertised as “skip the line”. There was no line skipping, we were stood in a long line and our tour was to start at 9 and we didn’t actually start until 10. We rushed through the crowded Vatican being told we can’t stop there we just don’t have time. The last thing on the tour was st Peters basilica. Our tour was to end at noon and we finally were able to go in at 1215. We had another tour scheduled at 1 and had to leave before even getting to see it. The one thing I was so excited to see. . Don’t waste your money, there is no skipping the line!
The only positive thing, the tour guide when you could hear her was nice and knowledgeable.

Too much art history standing outside pointing to little pictures with poor audible was boring to all 4 of us. Would like to have spent more time indoors with the actual art work.

Glad we book a guide. The museum was overwhelming. Plan for three hours for the entire tour. We needed a break afterwards.

Had a skip the line ticket for Vatican Museum, Sistine Chapel with the Basilica or Ragael Rooms. The ticket does skip the line for the Museum and Sistine Chapel but charges you over 3 times the normal entrance fee ( 17 euros ).
The Basilica is free to enter and everyone has to queue - there is no getting round that queue! Not sure why the description mentions the Basilica????
