At Big Island Buggy you choose the destination! You tour the island in your very own open aired VW Manx style buggy. We offer 2 or 4 seat buggies. See historical sites, drive to beautiful beaches, tour the coffee farms, YOU decide where and how long you would like to stay. We rent our buggies for 4 hours or 8 hours. Call for multiple day rentals. Our buggies come with a soft top that you can remove with ease and give yourself an AMAZING VIEW! The buggies can be driven anywhere a rental car can go on the island. After we got back from a 17 day cruise to Hawaii, my wife said that the most fun we had was renting a buggy from Big Island buggy. Our daughter was along and sat in the back, and she had a ball. We got to see things that no bus tour would have given us. Great hosts and they give great insight on places to go and see. I think I can even talk my wife into getting one of these things!

Aaron and Debbie were fantasic hosts. They went above and beyond to accommodate us. They provided us with beach chairs, umbrellas and boogie boards. They were also helpful with mapping out places for us to see during our 8 hour buggy hire. Aaron kindly met us at our hotel at the end of the day to retrieve the buggy, saving us time and taxi fares.
I would not hesitate to recomend this company a great experience 🌟🌟🌟🌟🌟

Highlight of our vacation! What a blast we had, driving an authentic dune buggy styled like the 1960's (I think: Speed Buggy). We'd swear nobody in town had ever seen one before, yet Big Island rents several every day! We received smiles everywhere we went. In fact, we showed photos of our dune buggy to several people on our cruise ship, and all wanted to know where we rented it, how we rented it, etc.
The weather was perfect that day, and the wind blew through our hair like we we in our twenties. Drove around a circuit Aaron and Debi recommended, and had an absolute blast. Speaking of Aaron and Debi, they could not have been nicer, nor more accommodating. Good honest people with a great service. We'll forever be in their debt for providing such a fun activity.
On a scale of one to ten, we give Big Island Buggy an ELEVEN!

We cannot say enough about this day. We had a complete blast. The owners were so friendly from the planning stage to the drop off. They recommended sites and beaches. We went everywhere they suggested and we were so glad we did. The buggy was so easy to drive! We rented for 4 hours but extended to 8 because it was so much fun.
Truly a must do! The owners Aaron and Debi were just amazing. Thank you for our wonderful day!!

We rented a buggy with as a shore excursion for our recent cruise. This was the most fun the wife and I have had on any shore excursion. Aaron and Debi were the best. They made sure that we understood the operation of the buggy and suggested a few places to see and experience. Many people admired and commented on our great looking ride. This is the best way to see Kona!

We were fortunate enough to be able to hire a buggy for half a day during a port visit on our cruise. Seems like a popular choice and we were lucky to have booked ahead of time. Fantastic customer service in communicating the pick up location prior to arrival (just a short walk from the pier) and then when we arrived on site. Took the time to go over a map of the area pointing out great places to stop, north or south of Kona and then going through the operation of the buggy itself.
Gears feel a bit clunky at first, but once you are used to them, you will be off.
We had heaps of fun cruising along the shore line south of Kona.
Although we didn’t end up using them, the convenience of having towels, a beach umbrella and a cooler included as part of the cost is extremely handy.
The hardest pet of the day was making sure we were driving in the correct side of the road!

Thank you Big Island Buggy! This was the best day of our vacation! The rental process was easy! Debi and Aaron are super fun, helpful and enthusiastic about the island which set us off on the right foot! We followed their recommendations for sight seeing and everything was perfect! Wonderful day….. can’t recommend it enough!!! We booked the full day and we think you should too!! We would give 10 stars if we could! Do not hesitate to book!!!! Do it now!!

Family owned and ran operation. Delivered our buggy right to our condo/Air BNB with a smile and lots of recommendations. We rented “Tang” the yellow manual transmission buggy, it was so much fun! The buggies have covers in case of rain, but we didn’t need it. Worth every penny, my husband LOVED driving Tang around the island. We will be doing this again.

We had a blast reminiscing our younger days when my boyfriend, now husband, would pick me up in his dune buggy for a date. Aaron was very thorough in all the details about our buggy. And Debi was awesome in giving us ideas on what to do and see for the day. We were lucky enough to make it to the “secret” beach. There are 30 passes for the day and we got #28! The beach was beyond gorgeous! The buggy came with beach chairs, umbrella, coolers, everything you’d need for the day! This was one of the best things we did while on the island! What fun!!! My wife and I rented a buggy from Big Island Buggy. Aaron and Debi (owners) exceeded our already high expectations. First, securing our rental online, prior to our arrival was simple. Second, the day before our rental date, we received a call from Aaron confirming the time we wanted the buggy and he informed us it would be delivered to us at our location at that time.. Third, Aaron and Debi met us at our condo and covered the operation of the buggy and Debi went over a map of the island, making some great recommendations of places to see, based on our interests.
In summary, we highly recommend Big Island Buggy and commend Aaron and Debi for their phenomenal, and personalized service.
What a great way to explore this wonderful island!!
