Travel back in time during a half-day trip to the mysterious Maya ruins of Tulum. Uncover the secrets of this ancient civilization as you tour the archeological site with a guide, enjoy some free time to dig your toes into the sand of Tulum's picture-perfect beach and then take a refreshing dip in the Caribbean.

After you're picked up from your hotel, ride along jungle-fringed roads to Tulum, a walled Maya city perched on the coast above the crashing waves of the Caribbean.

Once you arrive, enter the archeological site to explore the mysteries of this fascinating and well-preserved city. Listen to theories about Maya rituals, worship, and daily life as you walk around the site's clifftop Castillo.

From the site, you can look out over the coast and Tulum's famous stretch of long white sand. After your tour, have some free time to take photos, go for a walk along the beach, or take a dip in the balmy turquoise waters of the Caribbean.

CANCELLATION POLICY

I booked this tour a few weeks before arriving in Riviera Maya. The email from Viator that was sent to me said that I should contact Cancun Sightseeing two days before the tour to find out what time they would pick us up from our hotel. I called 2 days in advance and the representative from Cancun Sightseeing said that our tour was canceled! She said it was canceled weeks ago. I told her that I booked the tour a few weeks ago, never received an email that it was canceled, and was charged for the tour that day. She got on a three way call with another lady and the conversation ended with the lady saying that we would be picked up from our hotel at 8am. I confirmed with her that the tour was now on and asked where they'd pick us up. She said the lobby. The next day I called to find out which lobby they'd pick us up at and she said the main lobby. Okay, the tour is still on - great. Then I talked with our personal assistant at Hard Rock RM and she asked if she could call them just to double check. She called an confirmed that it was an 8am pick up and she switched the pickup to our hotel lobby. Finally the day of the tour. We were waiting outside our lobby at 7:55. By 8:10, Cancun Sightseeing had not arrived. The staff at Hard Rock were amazing. They called the other lobby but there wasn't anyone from Cancun Sightseeing. I called Cancun Sightseeing and with no apology, the rep said our new pick up time was 9:30. Seriously! They didn't call me. If they would have, it wouldn't have been a problem. So we went back to our room for an hour. 9:30 arrived - no one from Cancun Sightseeing. I called at 9:40 and the lady said they are running late. Finally we were picked up by 9:55. Once we got on the bus, the tour was great! Our tour guide told us a ton of information about the land, the Mayan people, culture, etc. The tour was great, we learned about Tulum and had time to walk the grounds on our own. If they try to sell you bug spray, think twice. We fell for it and bought a small bottle of bug spray. We did not see a single bug the entire time we were there. We were dropped off by 2pm (which was the end time stated on the tour itinerary.

If they would have been on time, I would have given them 4 stars as it was a good tour.
