An interesting excursion to ancient Tula, capital of the mighty Toltec empire, which flourished long before the arrival of the Aztecs. Visit includes the Ball Game court and the impressive Temple of the morning star, topped by the world-famous “Atlantes”, giant monolithic warriors standing guard, and the “Coatepantli”, an awe-inspiring wall of serpents. Next stop will be at Tepotzotlan, one of the mexican “Pueblos Magicos” (magic villages), for a visit to its colonial monastery, where you will admire some of the world`s most magnificent baroque altarpieces, carved in wood and covered with authentic gold leaf.
Itinerary:

Alfredo was an excellent, knowledgeable, and personable guide. He instinctively knew how to tailor the day to what we wanted to see, learn, and even eat. =] We were grateful we had the privilege of spending a day getting to know modern and historical Mexico through him!

Although it was a long drive, this was the most amazing ruin that people have never heard of. Our guide, Alfredo, shared so much history and information! Totally worth every minute,

Gabriel was knowledgeable and patient. We definitely spent more than an hour at Tula, and a guide is a must to properly understand the context of the site. It was nice to have some free time in Tepotzlan after a quick orientation - there’s not much other than the church, but the free was a bit rushed to get back to La Condesa for 4pm (our choice).

Good tour to the archaeological site and town. Maybe some free time in the town would have been good too. Guide was knowledgeable. Enjoyed the day overall!

Everyone goes to Teotihuacan, (which is awesome!) but Tula is a bit off the beaten path and a lot of fun to visit. When we booked the trip I was mostly thinking of it as "the Tula trip" however Tepotzotlan was very very interesting and the monastery there is beautiful. Dante was a wonderful guide and it felt like you were being show these sites by a friend rather than a tour guide. HIGHLY RECOMMEND booking this. Also, when you have lunch at Tepotzotlan, have Dante take you to the quesadilla stand at the market, it was some of the best food we had on the trip.

Met a great Spanish speaking guide Agustín. Maybe he speaks English also. Enjoyed the tour. Smaller than other archeological sites, but some really special things to see. Really unique. Fascinating plants also!
