Discover in a full day excursion Torres del Paine National Park (Chile), considered one of the eighth wonders of the world. Located in the heart of Southern Patagonia, 300 kms south of El Calafate, it is considered one of the most beautiful parks in the world for its curious and unique conformation of mountains, glaciers, lakes, waterfalls, flora and fauna.
Crossing the Patagonian steppe from north to south we will arrive at the Cancha Carrera border crossing (approximately 3.30 hrs), from where we will start touring the beautiful south of Chile.

WHAT TO EXPECT

1. El Calafate
Discover in a full day excursion Torres del Paine National Park (Chile), considered one of the eighth wonders of the world. Located in the heart of Southern Patagonia, 300 kms south of El Calafate, it is considered one of the most beautiful parks in the world for its curious and unique conformation of mountains, glaciers, lakes, waterfalls, flora and fauna. Onboard our OVERLAND 4X4 TRUCKS we will visit strategic points, from where we will undertake walks that allow us to access the panoramic viewpoints of the most important natural attractions of the Park. By default we do a walk of low technical difficulty and minimal physical demand. The walk is done in the company of our trekking guides authorized by CONAF - Chile.
2. El Calafate
The tour begins early in the morning from El Calafate -we use several support vehicles to ensure a quick start of the tour- to the international border. Chile the head vehicle finished the pick up we will head to the international border of Cancha Carrera - Cerro Castillo, taking the unpaved road called "The ShortCut" where we will arrive in at 10.30 am approximately. The guide will assist the travelers on the customs procedures. The reduced travel times are the result of the enormous benefits of using our latest generation 4x4 Overland Truck, which allows excellent performance on the asphalt (even by on top of conventional buses) and circulate on unpaved roads almost like on the asphalt.
3. Villa Cerro Castillo
Once we enter Chile we make a stop at the coffee place and money exchange El Ovejero. This is the first place with public restrooms and only place where travelers will be able to buy a handcraft and/or exchange money for the fee entrance of the national park.
4. Lago Sarmiento
Once in the Park, we will make various stops with and without descending the vehicle to contemplate lakes, waterfalls, and we will even be able to watch foxes and guanacos, and perhaps pumas, among other native animals. From Lago Sarmiento we will have the widest view the entire Paine Range
5. Torres del Paine
Laguna Amarga: with our overland trucks we will ride by the coast of the Lagoon up to an exclusive point where the Paine Towers are reflected in the turquoise waters. We will walk along the coast and take unique photos
6. Torres del Paine
Cascada Paine: Beautiful scenery where we will have an outdoor lunch. As this park is full of different species of native animals, it is very likely that we will have guanacos, foxes, ostriches, condors and many other species of birds. Perhaps -as it has been happening to us in recent seasons- in this or in some other sector of the park we will most likely have an unforgettable encounter with pumas -animal very difficult to see until a few years ago-.
7. Torres del Paine National Park
Portería Laguna Amarga (entrance of the park): Despite having been touring the national park for about 2 hours, the entrance to the park is paid at 1 pm aprox as the administrative office is located in a central location of the park. Foreign currency (dollar and euro) is received at the park between Oct 1 and Apr 30. The bills must be in perfect condition and can receive the change in Chilean currency. We trust that on the season 20/21 the fee be payed online before the tour. In this point there are pubic restrooms.
8. Nordenskjold Lake
Here we have already begun to circulate the south side of the park where the imposing Cuernos del Paine and its variety of colors dominate the landscape. We will make a stop at the highest panoramic point of the excursion where the landscape combines granite mountains, valleys, lakes and the Paine Grande Glacier.
9. Torres del Paine
Salto Grande Waterfall: at this point we will start the hike to the inferior mirador of the Lake Nordenskjold. During the tour we will visit the imposing Salto Grande, where Lake Nordenskjold falls onto Lake Pehoe, forming beautiful rainbows on windy and sunny days. This is the place where the force of the Patagonian wind can be perceived since for geographical reasons it is considered one of the windiest places in the world.
10. Torres del Paine
Pehoe Lake Mirador: In this place the most representative photos have been taken and that best reflect the beauty of Torres del Paine National Park. The landscape highlights the Horns, the French valley, the Franch glacier, Monte Paine Grande and the Lake and the Hostería Pehoe. From this point and around 4.30 pm we will start the return to the border and then continue to Calafate.

It was worthwhile to take almost a 3 hours journey from Calafate one way. Especially the guide at Chile side was excellent with humor always thinking of how to satisfy the guests. On the other hand, maybe it would be better to consider leaving Calafate an hour earlier (6;00 instead of 7:00) so that the return to Calafate is more relaxing (20:00 instead of 21:00).

It was an overall good experience and would do it again. We had Nicholas as our guide, was good and efficient. Day starts with pickups around 630 and the bigger group headed out at 715. There were a few stops along the way for bathrooms, immigration (snacks here). It was about 6 hours from the time I got picked up to the time we went out for our first Viewpoint, but it went by well with the few stops. We were EXTREMELY LUCKY with the weather, almost no clouds all day. This allowed for premium viewing and pictures all day. We had some Wow moments. If you only have 1 day and want to see Chile and this park, this is the trip. We were dropped back off around 1030 at night, grabbed dinner on the way home.

Lunch was a couple of homemade sandwiches, they were ok, came in a goody bag with a bunch of other snacks and water. But again, you have a chance to bring / buy stuff on the way when you cross into Chile. People shouldn’t be able to eat the sandwiches on the way home, stunk up the bus for a bit but no big deal.

Overall the tour was very good. The guides, especially the one on the Chilean side, did a great job. They were very knowledgeable, professional and helpful.
We enjoyed the Torres del Paine National Park a lot: the views over there are breathtaking. Definitely worth visiting!
The only thing we didn’t like was the overland vehicle (not-quite-truck/not-quite-bus). It might be ok to use this type of transportation for the short-duration trips, but not for the 15-h journey from El Calafate to Torres del Paine and back. The ride was sweaty and exhausting: the seats were hard & uncomfortable and air conditioning was poor. We would encourage the tour organizers to come up with a better transportation option.

The perfect way to get a taste of Torres del Paine since our packed itinerary only had room for one day there. The drive to and from went by quickly, and there was plenty of beautiful scenery to admire. We got a great taste of the park and saw some beautiful lakes, waterfalls, wildlife, and of course, mountain views! The border crossings do take a while with such a large group, but the guides kept us on the planned schedule.

Pros: Our guide Nico was excellent, his experience and passion for nature was remarkable. Also, Torres del Paine is a truly natural wonder, amazing place!

Cons: very long and exhausting trip, we spent most of the time in the bus. Only spent an hour in Torres del Paine which was the primary purpose of the trip. The delay to cross the borders to Chile and back is outrageous. Plus, we didn't have any time to grab any food or coffee.

My two cents: if you want to visit Torres del Paine don’t try to do it in a day.

PS. Torres del Paine is extremely windy, even in days with decent weather conditions, so dress accordingly.

We very much enjoyed our experience. The bus was comfortable. The guide was knowledgeable and friendly. We were able to see a lot despite the long distance and the lengthy border crossings. The very minor complaint I have is that the sack lunch provided while plentiful and tasty included two onion sandwiches which people ate on and off all day and made the bus smell pretty unpleasant. It would be nice if the sandwiches were something less odoriferous.

To anyone who wants to see the beautiful Torres del paine I recommend going from Puerto Natales instead if you can. This 16 hour tour consisted of about 13-14 in a bus and at the border control. A couple of short stops at some viewpoints and a one and a half hour walk to see the sights was all we had time for. Also the 4x4 they try to sell in as it moves on asphalt even on rocky roads is total BS. I have never been on a bumpier ride my whole life!
As an extra negative for me personally I was promised a vegan lunch box but they didn’t deliver one. So utterly disappointed to go 16 hours with no food! When I contacted them about this they didn’t reply in two days so I finally went to their office to get an apology and a small refund. Very unprofessional attitude all the way…
