We had the most amazing time. Halong Bay is utterly stunning. Halong Bay Cruise Hunters made the trip very special. Transport very comfortable to the port. We went on two different boats - staff and accommodation very high standard. Would highly recommend. Tony and Ming were such great Cruise Managers. Food was very impressive. Trips were well organised and lots of fun.

Knowing that every traveler has there own expectations, I must say that our three days and two nights with Brian (English name) and his service staff aboard the Ha Long Dragon exceeded our expectations. Our balcony cabin was very clean and comfortable; the dining room was beautiful and welcoming and the food was tastier than expected. The service team was always anticipating our needs with smiles and gracious patience. Johnny (English name) took extra care of my wife and I throughout his working time on the boat. He was always making sure that the cocktails were satisfying and that we had everything we needed to the end of our trip. The day trips were very interesting and worthwhile. Me met wonderful people from all over the world and danced on the upper deck beneath a spectacular Ha Long Bay sky.

Charged an extra $50 pp for a new years eve gala dinner unfortunately this only consisted of a cheap glass of terrible white wine.
Avoid this company as the don't actually know what goes onboard the ships

Do not book a cruise with Halong Bay Cruise Hunters or book the Aquamarine Cruise. It was 2 star experience at a 5 star price. The owner led us into thinking we had booked a superior room and then repeatedly denied they were at fault after we made a complaint.

My partner and I took a cruise on Aquamarine cruise which we booked through the company Halong Bay Cruise Hunters.

We were given a room that was totally different from the pictures we had been told we booked. The pictures sent before we booked were actually for a family suite, which is a far superior room to what we received. Our actual room had a much smaller shower, smaller bath and no large window overlooking the water. In general, the whole boat was really tired and dilapidated. Lots of peeling paint and rust spots. (See pics)

When we raised the issue the cruise company has refused to acknowledge they misrepresented the cabin which was sold to us. In my screenshots of our attached conversations you can clearly see they have shown us pictures of the superior family suite to obtain our booking. I have attached pictures of the actual room we received. The owner has spent all afternoon arguing with us over whatsapp and refusing to admit they sent us pictures of the wrong room even though it is clearly visible in our conversation. The customer service is the worst I have ever dealt with. I note in another review on TripAdvisor I am not the only person who has had issues with the owner after making a complaint.

On top of this whole debacle the entire cruise was way below our expectations of a 5 star experience and not worth the price. I am sure you would have a similar experience booking another cruise at a lower price point. The drinks on board were far above retail prices, a beer coming in around 80,000 VND, likewise for coffee, wine etc. We spoke to people from other ships who were only paying around 30,000 for a beer on their boats.

As for the organised activities, the first day was so busy it was a really awful experience. Tours were organised so all the boats arrive at the activities at the same time at every site. Which means you are kayaking in a tiny area with about 50-60 other people. Likewise for the swimming and hiking at Ti Top island. All the boats arrived at the same time and left at the same time so it was absolute chaos.

Some positive elements- the staff on board were really friendly and did their best and the food was decent and plentiful. We had booked last minute so we didn't specify ouf dietry requirements but the staff pulled together a good vegetarian dinner for thr first night at the last minute which i loved. We also had an enjoyable second day when we got off the main cruise ship and spent a day with a separate company kayaking in a different Bay through caves and jumping off the boat into the water at 3 peaches Island.

I can’t express enough how amazing this cruise was! It was more than we could every ask for! The service, food and attention to detail is impeccable. The room was the cherry on top! Absolutely amazing, clean and the hot water pressure and temperature was divine!

I am a notorious snoozer and did not wake up for breakfast on the second day of the tour so the manager offered to pack some for me for the day your! This was a beautiful gesture and I appreciate it deeply!

Thankyou so much for an incredible cruising experience! Cannot fault a thing.

Amazing experience, we came on this cruise to end our Vietnam trip and for my partners birthday and we got the relaxing amazing experience we expected. Glad it wasn’t a part boat and the room was amazing!

Excellent Trip…Cool Weather…Food was very nice..Crew members are very friendly and given good service..Halong Bay Cruise Hunters arrranged the tour for me..He was so helpful..we as family really enjoyed this trip..Had cooking class,squid fishing,kayaking and swiming❤️

We booked our cruise through Viator. James from Ha Long Bay Cruise Hunters was extremely quick to get in touch via WhatsApp once it had been confirmed, sending us pictures of our boat and the itinerary for the cruise. We had the option to upgrade but chose to stay with the original boat. James was extremely helpful throughout sending reminders and checking in with us on the day of the cruise. Our hotel in Hanoi had already been told when we were being picked up, so when we checked in they provided us with the details. The transfer was on time and there weren't too many other pick-ups, so we were soon on our way. We had a change of boat on day 2 because of logistics but everything was done so efficiently it was amazing. Again the Ha Long Bay Cruise Hunter team kept in touch with us to confirm our return transfers. It was a new experience for me booking this way, but it all worked out extremely smoothly.

If you plan to go to Ha Long you should definitely opt for the two night cruise as you get to go to the quieter areas, kayaking and swimming for longer.

Despite sending messages through Viator App & emails upto 5 days prior to the trip date, we had no communication from Halong Bay Cruises until less than 24 hours before collection and were very close to cancelling altogether.

The trip overall was very good, the food very qood quality and plentiful and the staff all very polite. The room was clean and comfortable, albeit quite small and the private balcony was worth the upgrade for a bit of privacy or if the evening karaoke/film on deck is not your thing. Tea/Coffee in the room would have been nice.

As the majority of people were staying only 1 night, we switched groups for the second night. This led to it being a bit disjointed, as day 2 was a different tour guide who took us kayaking and to the beach, but we did not cycle on Cat Ba & visit the local villages as per the sales itinerary. Instead, we spent 2 hours moored-up 50 metres from the beach were told we would need to jump from the boat & swim to the beach. As this was directly following lunch, only a few people decided to accept this challenge.
The evening meal on deck was very nice but with another different group & different tour guide who had just done our Day 1 itinerary. The Captain asked if we enjoyed the villages, which highlighted the omission. I asked the third Tour Guide why we had not been on cycling/village tour, and he promised he would ask and let me know. He didn't return to us.
Morning of Day 3 was kayaking prior to checkout, but we did not participate as we had already done this the day before.

In summary, I would recommend the tour, but very disappointed that some activities listed on the Sales pitch/Itinerary were omitted. Unless you want to just chill on the boat, I would recommend just 1 night or perhaps a better organised tour.
