Watch Japan’s unique and traditional sport Sumo with a knowledgeable tour guide.
If you are in Tokyo in January, March or September, you should not miss it!(the tournaments take place 6 times a year; 3 times in Tokyo, once in Osaka, Nagoya and Fukuoka respectively. Each tournament lasts for 15 days. )
Meet your English speaking guide at the JR Ryogoku station and walk to the stadium(2mins walk). Your guide will talk you through what is Sumo, its history and rules before entering the stadium and give you additional tips in between the bouts.
Feel the intense, serious atmosphere of the tournament while you are free to grab some beer, Yakitori(skewers), etc.. at the vendor inside the stadium and eat/drink at your seat. *Food and drinks are not included in this tour.

This tour was so easy and stress free, our tour guide Masa was so informative and so FUN! The tournament was great to watch, Masa answered questions and explained important details of sumo and what was going on. He even had some banners and fans we got to wave for Ura (GO URA!) I would absolutely do this again and highly recommend Japan Wonder Travel and Masa. Thank you Masa!! 🎉💖🇦🇺🇯🇵

I've always wanted to watch Sumo live and it finally came true!! :D
I don't remember the name of the sumo wrestler but I was able to get a quick photo with one of the contestants as well. Great Experience!

Attending the sumo wrestling was one of the highlights of our trip to Japan. Our tour leader Mami was very knowledgeable and engaged. She explained the tournament rules and was very passionate about wrestling. Mami was the consummate host, checking in with us and the other tour members. If you get the opportunity to attend the sumo wrestling whilst in Japan, definitely do it

Such a lively and relaxed atmosphere, but getting more and more exciting as the best wrestlers come out and the roaring supporters shout names! After hearing the explanation of the history of sumo and many interesting facts, it was a delight to watch, especially when a small wrestler defeated a much bigger one.

This was a great way to not only see this spectacular sporting event but also understand the history and cultural significance of it too. Our guide Yoshimi was great and kept our kids engaged throughout the tournament answering lots of questions.

Yuki our guide was great. She had so much knowledge on sumo and gave us all the information so it made it a complete experience. She had her favorite wrestlers and it made it fun to watch the excitement.

What a great expierence! Our guide was great. He gave a thorough explanation of the tournament, history and sumo. He helped us cheer and truly enjoy the tournament! It was the highlight of the entire trip.
