Enjoy a unique experience that's simply not possible by just watching on TV! Come face to face with Japanese culture that has been kept alive through many years, such as the presence of a referee which began in the Sengoku period (about 1467-1603), and the use of vivid 'kesho-mawashi' ceremonial aprons and the ring entering procession which have continued from the Edo period (1603-1868), on this tour guided by a National Government Licensed English Guide Interpreter knowledgeable about sumo wrestling. Watch sumo, Japan's national sport, from comfortable reserved B-class seating (chair seating). All tour participants will receive "The Sumo," a booklet about sumo (in English); and Banzuke-hyo, a table of rankings, as a gift! It has easy-to-understand explanations about the origins of sumo wrestling, match rules, reading the banzuke list, enjoying the ceremony, and more, so feel free to use it during the sumo viewing.

Excellent tour! Our Tour Guide Ako was great! Location at Ryogoku View Hotel to meet guide and orientation was vevy good. In arena, she offered great information and suggestions. JTB gift package was very nice with delicious chicken bento and sumo towel. Regret that I forgot box of Hawaiian candy at my hotel for Ako to share with other JTB staff. Thank you very much.

Our tour guide Shin was very friendly and knowledgeable. He definitely made the experience better. We had a good view from our seats and thought it was well worth money.

I had a fantastic time at the sumo tournament and you will too. Our tour guide Yuki spoke great English and added a lot of important context to what we were watching. They also give you a sheet that's got all of the matches and what each competitor is "known for" (example "tallest" "heaviest" "considered handsome")

Ako was a fantastic, friendly guide for our tour - very knowledgeable about sumo and always willing to answer questions. The tour company itself was very well organized - this is a great way to go experience sumo in Tokyo!
