Todos Santos is an eclectic little town, situated on the Pacific Coast of the southern Baja Peninsula. Located about halfway from La Paz to Cabo San Lucas on Hwy 19, this delightful spot is one of the earlier settlements in Baja and has a long and colorful history. On this 7-hour, small group tour, visit the shops and art galleries that Todos Santos is known for, and dine at the famous Hotel California, set right in the center of town.

Nice town to visit for a day trip, but if I were pressed for time I would skip it in favor of Cabo San Jose, particularly if you can go to the San Jose del Cabo Art Walk, which is a popular weekly event held every Thursday evening from 5-9pm between the months of November and June. The highlight of our trip to Todos Santos was the beautiful coastal drive from Cabo San Lucas and our visit to El Faro Beach Club and Spa for lunch and its sister restaurant up the hill, El Mirador Oceanview Restaurant. Truly spectacular views. You would be well advised to drive an SUV, as the roads to get to these are dirt and rather rough at times.

Osmond was FANTASTIC. We loved the blanket demonstration, the pearl explanation, the tequila tasting and lunch. There was a gentleman at Hotel California throwing pottery while we were at lunch and I got a tree with an owl.

First the good. Our guide Jose Lopez was great and did an excellent job explaining everything with detail. I know he doesn't plan the events.

Now the bad. Too much focus on shopping with the different store stops, especially the jewelry store. The blanket store was interesting, even if they really don’t make them by hand or live there. It also takes way too long to drop everyone off in the different hotels. Between the store stops and the long ride, we regretted taking this tour .

The stop at the jewelry store with the pearl demonstration is too long, and takes away "free time" from Todos Santos. I will also mention that the jewelry employee, that gives the pearl demonstration, should tone down the comments about Columbus and Spaniards. In between, he asked if all in the group were Americans. Not all in the group were Americans, and not all Americans have the same opinion on history, many are educated and now the bad, the good, and the misinformation in history.

I recommend taking the bus to enjoy your time in Todos Santos, and not in a van or in stores.

The drive to Todos Santos was beautiful, with our guide Jesus providing interesting commentary along the way. We saw whales breaching off in the distance on one side, and Organpipe Cacti and mountains on the other. Todos itself was charming and it was fun to eat at Hotel California!
