Our trip was well organised, timely, informative and good fun thanks to our guide. The Viking Village gave a good insight in to the lives of the Viking rather than the picture painted by Film & TV.
My wife damaged her blouse on a sharp object on the boat and Viking Adventures were brilliant in handling the issue and arranging compensation, they could not have been more helpful.
Book direct if you’re on a cruise as it’s much cheaper than the on board fee.

This was a lovely tour and very well organised.
The farm is authentic and our Viking guide was very knowledgeable about Viking life. His presentation was full of interesting facts . Loved the free time exploring the buildings.

Viking Avaldsnes Farm experience
Norway is synonymous with Vikings and their influence on world history.
I have also visited the UNESCO world heritage site of the Viking village of Birka in Sweden (please see my review.) So this place has been benchmarked with that experience.
We booked through Go Viking adventure, on the day. They have a brown hut as soon as you disembark from the Cruise ship in Haugesund, in front of the tourist office.
Inside the tourist shop, they was also an offer of a bus trip to the same farm, which appeared cheaper. The person behind the counter said that “ it would come to the same cost” with either mode of transport. If anyone else goes there please could you clarify if this statement is true?
There is a 6 minute walk to a catamaran that takes you down Norvegen waterway-which Norway is named after- to a Viking island with buildings such as longhouses and people dressed in character. Our friendly guide Kenneth told us the history of the waterway. We also saw an aluminium factory in the distance, which has been one of Norway’s main exports.
One of the Viking women gave a talk on what life was like in the farm. The kids also had an opportunity of making a beaded bracelet. The Viking ladies, know that their presence was key to bringing the buildings to life, and were friendly and accommodating to have their photographs taken. Thank you for that.
On the way back, included in the price, was the opportunity to visit Viking planet which gave an audiovisual guide to this era. This only consisted of a few rooms and the visit here could be completed in half-an-hour or so. I am glad that this was included, as it gave a more rounded experience.
There is a 15 minute walk over a bridge back to the cruise ship, from here.
Overall this was expensive for what it is.(but everything in Norway is costly.) Not as enriching as Birka, and not much time allocated on the farm itself, but it provides children with a taster of Viking life.

It’s really not my style to leave negative reviews but we saved long & hard for excursions on our lovely Fjord trip and really have come away feeling disappointed. This trip cost us £72 a person which includes a quick boat trip with not much to see as a lot of the area is very industrial although the guide was very pleasant. We then disembarked at the Viking Farm, again the staff were really lovely but it’s just so basic. There’s so much more that could be done, it could be so much more interactive and we just left feeling flat with about 5/6 other couples saying they felt the same way. I think what made us upset is we know how much the total trip cost and at the entrance to the farm they have the price list and it’s not a lot which made us realise that we had been charged a lot for the total experience. I get that the museum tickets are included but even at this rate it means the boat alone was around £40. We’ve done many experiments around the wild including London & Switzerland which have exorbitant pricing but this took the cake. Not angry, again saved really hard for our excursions and we are feeling deflated. It wasn’t for us.

The tour operator is set up at the dock, offering a variety of tours; the staff was friendly & efficient. My husband is a wheelchair user, who can walk short distances. After disclosure of possible concerns of the transit and farm terrain, we determined that both the boat ride and farm experience were manageable, although reaching some of the structures might not be feasible . There are graveled footpaths and unevern stepping stones set in grass. The experience was phenomenal, thanks to the staff of Viking Adventures!!!. The digital museum has a lift and the interactive experience was completely accessible and a lovely conclusion to the tour. My husband's wheelchair is collapsible, like a pram, this made the journey possible. The plank to board the ship is only 18" wide, with the crew monitoring and assisting, he boarded beautifully. There is ample space form prams on the vessel.

Lovely, well organized trip (around £70/person) to the Viking Farm. The tour guide ,Susan,departed a lot of knowledge during the 20 min boat trip to the farm and once there a man in costume and in character described how it was to have lived in those times. This was followed by some time to have a look around and take photos. The ticket then also allowed in entry on arrival back in Haugesund to the Digital Viking Museum. All in all about 4 hours well spent before heading back to our ship

We didn’t book this with Trip Advisor bot paid on the dock .
The trip was about 45 minutes on the boat to the farm and the guide on the boat was very informative.When you get to the farm there are 3 people Anna told us all about Viking life for about 20 minutes and it was very interesting .
The village itself was good and the Viking told us all about the Viking house and how they lived .
After that we got back on the boat and headed back to town . We went to the Viking digital museum and spent about 45 minutes there .
All in all we had a good time but I think for £250 it was expensive for 2 adults and a child
