1. Syntagma District
We will stroll through the streets of Athens City Center while visiting traditional Greek street food vendors; true Athenian icons, multi-generational family businesses, and new commendable food entrepreneurs. Sample menu Sweet & Savory pies that you will never forget (i.e. Cheese Pie, Spinach Pie) Koulouri (toasted sesame bread ring) - Greece’s favourite breakfast on the run. this round-shaped bread is packed with good carbohydrates and proteins. Organic olive oil tasting. A traditionally brewed Greek coffee

This beautiful and vibrant square used to be the home of the city’s flower market. Only a couple flower vendors remain, as the rest have been replaced by café bars & eateries, becoming one of the hottest spots in town. Easy to reach no matter where you’re coming from, self-contained and peaceful, with no bothersome thru-traffic, the thriving square is teeming with life most hours of the day. We will enjoy a special delicacy from Crete, a pie like no other. It's called Sfakiani and is thin like crepe with soft cheese inside and honey on top! Sample Menu: Rakomelo: This famous alcoholic mixed drink is made by combining Raki (a grape flavoured brandy), with honey and warm spices like cardamom, cinnamon and local herbs.

Sample Menu: The ultimate Greek street food dessert: Loukoumades, aka “honey puffs” in the best place for 100 years. Aiolou street is a historical central paved road connecting Omonia square with Ermou street. Its name derives from the ancient Greek god of the winds, Aeolus. Constructed in 1833, Aiolou street is one of the oldest streets in Athens.
4. Kotzia Square
Sample menu: Greek Honey tasting. 3 distinct delicious varieties. Kotzia Square is surrounded by lovely neoclassical buildings among which the old town hall. here is also a small archaeological site (where you can see the city's water supply system dating back to 2000 years ago) which has been recently brought to light following the excavations for the underground car park.
5. Central Market
Visit the vibrant open fish and meat market of the city! Sample Menu: Souvlaki, our national street food. There are hundreds of Souvlaki places, but a handful of really good ones. We will take you for one of the most delicious, authentic and acclaimed!

Sample menu: PDO (Protected Destination of Origin) Greek cheeses, unique meats like pastourma and Tsipouro. Mecca of Athens’ spice and herb stores. Small, family-run businesses have been the lifeline of this street for decades, making it the first stop of any Athenian interested in food. PDO (Protected Destination of Origin) Greek cheeses and unique meats. Tsipouro, a popular grape-distilled spirit made pure or scented with anise. It is served as a welcome to guests, an accompaniment to meze or as the fuel for the laughter between old friends in cafes all over Greece.

Psyri or Psiri is central, trendy & unconventional! It is a colorful neoclassical neighborhood known for its artisans, specialty stores, restaurants, bars, tavernas (with or without live music), theaters, art and antique shops, as well as a small number of hotels.
9. Monastiraki
Located in the shadow of the Acropolis, the Monastiraki neighborhood is a blend of architectural styles, eras and cultures, sitting adjacent to the districts of Psyri, Plaka and Thisio. Monastiraki Square is one of the most enchanting squares in Athens, being the home to restaurants, cafes, shops, the famous flea market and plenty of ancient history. In the square, you can admire the sunken Church of Pantanassa, the only remaining part of the monastery (or rather nunnery) that existed on location during the Byzantine period and gave the area its name (Monastiraki means little monastery). But for many, Monastiraki is mostly synonymous with antiques and old treasures thanks to the flea markets and antique shops that dot the area towards Abyssinia Square.

We had the opportunity with a group of colleagues to participate in an outstanding food tour in Athens. It was a lovely evening full of delicious food and stories. Valentini went above and beyond to make the most out of this tour with her cheerful attitude and extensive food knowledge. I cannot recommend this highly enough!!!!

A must do tour for foodies and local wine/spirits lovers

You will have a memorable and delicious day when you join a Food & Wine tour by Athens Bites. Does not matter whether you’re a wine enthusiast, or new to wine tasting, you will thoroughly enjoy this experience. We were sitting down at all restaurants thus having the time to enjoy the food, the wine, the stories and each other’s company. You can tell that is a very well curated gastronomic experience; all stops were excellent and we savored magnificent and diverse wines and dishes. The personalized service and attention to detail provided by Athens Bites resulted in a memorable and enjoyable experience for our entire team. Highly recommended!

I went on the Greek Food Experience by Athens Bites and it was brilliant. Big thanks to our guide Alice, her insights on the city & food culture helped us get the most out of our time in Athens. We explored the off the beaten path Athens, visited family run places and sampled amazing food. We really appreciated the balance between savor and sweet. By the end of the tour our bellies were full and very satisfied. Alice had a very positive energy and, her passion for Athens and food was evident. She was very kind and accommodating and very open to our many questions. The whole tour was very well organised. Highly recommended.

As part of a business trip, my team of 22 participated in a food walking tour customized to our needs. The ladies in charge did a great job and overall was an excellent experience, different and special. The places we visited were one of a kind and everything we tried was marvelous. We had an excellent food and wine tour in the city center of Athens. All 3 stops were AMAZING! First, we had wine tasting with charcuterie board with Greek products (loved all varieties esp. the smoked cheese), second was a beautiful restaurant with delicious Greek food (fava, dolma, zucchini balls and more) and more wine and finally dessert stop with dessert wine. It was the best meal I had in my 2 weeks in Greece. Thank you Valentini for making this experience so memorable. This is tour is 10/10!

We did the Greek Food Experience tour and our guide Aliki, was fantastic. We learnt so much and so many interesting info about Greek cuisine and culture while eating delicious food! We tasted foods we would not have otherwise tried on our own and found some great restaurants and shops. Aliki shared with us great tips for the rest of our stay and all that we tried were top notch. Can't recommend this tour highly enough. Thanks for a great day!

A wonderful evening with a group of colleagues. Valentini led us in Athens through multiple restaurants. Food was superb - best ever Greek food I enjoyed so far and that says a lot. The tour was elevated by the stories & passion from Valentini. She is a fantastic host and story teller - and curator of best gems in town ! I highly recommend the experience - there is no better way to get acquainted with Greece and bring back lovely stories & memories (& an appetite for another tour!)

Our group of 6 had a private food & wine tour and we added 2 more persons last minute without any hassle. The whole communication regarding our schedule and itinerary was easy, simple and professional. The tour exceeded our expectations. All the places we visited were excellent offering amazing and qualitative food & wine. We have tried many Greek wine varieties from different regions and we were all impressed especially with the white wines. Our guide Valentini, was the one who actually made this tour so memorable. Our time in Athens would not have been the same without this experience. Thank you for the lovely memories.

A couple of weeks ago, our virtual team met in Athens to attend a seminar. One of the nights our company organized a private food walking tour and it hands down was the best experience! We sampled tasty foods from 4 different local food spots. One spot (the Greek restaurant) served us multiple dishes - all were delicious. Valentini & Eleni, provided culturally relevant information as we strolled from one place to the next. The tour brought us to many places that we otherwise wouldn’t have experienced as visitors. All the local stops were 5 stars when it came to both the food/drinks and hospitality. We thoroughly enjoyed the tour from beginning to end. It was a wonderful night in Athens.

We had a blast on our Greek Food Tour experience by Athens Bites as it is by far the most thoughtfully curated tour, we have done. Valentini was a great host & connoisseur, so passionate about food and Athens. We learnt so many things that were delivered as bite size stories which was brilliant. And the food… everything we tried was delicious and you could tell everything was fresh and made with care, the quality was superb. We visited than 9 locations, including a variety of cheeses like feta and gruyere, cold cuts, souvlaki, olives, honey doughnuts, variety of pies both savory and sweet, honey tasting, Greek coffee etc. You won’t go hungry on this tour, bring your appetite and pace yourself. Every aspect of the tour exceeded our expectations. Recommendations: Come hungry as this tour replaces breakfast and lunch, do it on your first day as you will get a good orientation of the city, get many tips from restaurants to nightlife and shopping. Needless to say, highly recommended!
