Travelling on Victoria’s heritage-listed Great Ocean Road is one of the greatest road trips you can have in Australia. Our Great Ocean Road Private fully customizable tour features amazing scenery, stories and wildlife in a leisurely drive that will have you gasping at every turn.
This 244-kilometre-long stretch meanders through secret bays filled with rock pools, imposing sandstone cliffs, lush rain forests and deserted beaches. Dotted with quaint seaside towns, coastal walks and shipwreck stories makes this region immensely popular.
A highlight of the tour is visiting the Twelve Apostles, limestone karsts that rise majestically out of the water off the coast.
We have a fleet of 7-seater and 11-seater buses for your group and the price is for the driver/guide and vehicle, not per person.
The tour is fully customized and pick up is from your accommodation. We stop often and avoid the crowds, living up to our motto of ‘Let the others rush!’.

John's company provides outstanding service and tours and I would highly recommend the Melbourne Touring Company. Michael was our tour guide and he was excellent, very knowledgeable and personalable.

EVERYTHING WAS PERFECT even when the weather was not cooperating. We got Wes, the BEST guide and driver of our trip. He was attentive, very communicative and takes great initiative all the time. My sister requires wheelchair access and throughout the stops, Wes was simply wonderful, stepping in whenever we found it difficult to manage, to the point where my mom trusted him enough to "let go" and have his assistance. Very very lovely trip we had, given the flexibility in a private tour. We managed to see the 12 Apostles without the usual hoards of crowd and the wild koala sightings! Everything was just perfect, honestly. Can't fault a thing. Please request for Wes! He's very very very patient, kind and really, just lovely. Thank you, John, for arranging everything.

We booked a private tour for ourselves as a couple and it was a magnificent decision as it really allowed us to customize the tour and spend more time in the places we enjoyed the most.

Beyond the beauty of the scenic route, our guide Wes was a treasure trove of information, kept us well-entertained, put up with all of our questions and requests, and was just an all-around great guy and a charismatic story-teller. He certainly made our trip memorable and the value he added made it well worth it. He also met my girlfriend’s demanding photography standards and gave us loads of tips on where to eat, go, and even when it would be a good time to catch a nap as we drove along!

As for the tour itself, we got an early start at 7 and our route (as advised by Wes) went counter clockwise and started off with a quick coffee before heading straight to the Apostles. That allowed us to have almost every stop we did to ourselves without any crowds or tour buses and by the time we got around to Apollo Bay for a quick lunch the tour buses were already gone and we again got plenty of space to ourselves. Along the route are some incredible natural formations, gorgeous forests, and plenty of cattle ranches, dairy farms, and quaint towns. We were lucky enough to spot a few kangaroo mobs, an Echidna, a Wallaby, and even a Koala!

A truly memorable trip and we couldn’t be more grateful to the Melbourne Tour Company for accommodating us on a short notice; and Wes: You went above and beyond to ensure our day was absolutely memorable, we had an incredible time! Thank you a bunch from Michy and myself.

This trip started out well with the driver giving us info about Melbourne and taking us to a Chocolatier. The best hot chocolate I’ve ever had. The scenery along the ocean road was beautiful. The stops were extremely crowded though, which the driver can’t help, even though the tour description says they didn’t go to crowded spots. Perhaps if the tour company hadn’t moved our departure time later, we wouldn’t have hit so many crowds. We did see a few koalas which was great! However the tour description also said we would see shipwrecks and rainforests, and we saw neither. We spent half the day driving through farm country with no history or other commentary about Australia or its people during that time. I expected we would return the same way we came so everyone would have opportunities to see the ocean well. Our driver was nothing like the drivers mentioned in Viator reviews. He was polite and got us safely through the day. That’s all I can say, hence the 3 star review.

Fantastic tour and our guide; Dominic was excellent. The guide knew the operator of a private preserve that for an additional charge of 20 AUD we could visit. We were able to feed and interact with kuala, kangaroo and wallabies. A fantastic addition.

Awesome day with an excellent guide. Wes did an amazing job of maximizing our time. He was gracious and accommodating. We did the itinerary in reverse to avoid crowds and it was perfect. The place we were taken for our meal was great. This region/road is absolutely gorgeous and I’m glad I got to experience it. It was a long day but would recommend 10/10

Terrific drive — don’t miss it. Even with a little bit of rain, it was a stellar day-out. We took the shorter route - 9 hours instead of twelve, and it was just right. Stopped first at the Twelve Apostles, before the crowds got there — in fact, we were ahead of the crowds all day, which made it much more enjoyable. Don’t miss it!

If you have the time, I highly recommend this tour. It does take 12 to 13 hours but the diverse views of Australian scenery is worth it. Our guide Royce was knowledgeable, accommodating and took us to the places we wanted to see.
