Terrible! No gorillas, 1 elephant, no African animals (antelope etc). Infrastructure falling apart. Very disappointed and not worth the effort.

We drove there as the gondola was not in service n family of 5 with 1x limited in mobility. Terrain can be challenging. But they put in some facilities such as lifts and escalators in tricky sections. Map n direction signages need to be improved as the hilly terrain can be tricky in navigation with poor signages.
The two main shows - bird and sea lions were fantastic. Bird show stage is very scenic.
Good main eating facility with options for vegans available.
Other side kiosks were not open during our visit.
Animals seem lovely with 1 animal of each (eg capybara ) sighted. The Australian wildlife and nocturnal animals worth a visit first. We had a chance to spy on elephants care activities as well.
Very scenic zoo. Factor in whole day to be there.

My wife and I visited Taronga Zoo in October of 2023. The weather was spectacular! There were plenty of volunteers and staff on hand to make our day pleasant. We were pleasantly surprised to find that there were no unpleasant smells to be found anywhere on the grounds. Be aware of how to get to to the zoo. I recommend the very pleasant and inexpensive ferry ride from Circular Quay followed by the short bus ride up to the entrance - don’t even think about walking. We chose to arrive early in hopes of seeing more animal activity. We were not disappointed. There were many places to stop and take photos, including great views of the Harbor and of Sydney. I recommend putting the Taronga Zoo at or near the top your to-do list for Sydney. Remember not to stress about how to get there and enjoy the ferry ride.

Super day at the zoo. Paid separately for boat ride from docks to zoo location. City transport not very expensive. The zoo was nicely laid out. Koalas were asleep Tasmanian devils were hard to see. Great view of the city.

A nostalgic visit for me & 1st time for hubby. We enjoyed our day here & it's so nice seeing the views across the harbour as you make your way downhill. Food & gifts are expensive but that's expected. The keeper's talks are interesting to hear. Be prepared for lots of walking, up & down hill & lots of stairs. We felt some of the enclosures could be updated & improved. A great day out for families. Recommend for tourists. I still remember coming here as a child over 50 years ago & riding on an elephant! (You can't do that now).

It was great to see all the Australian wildlife. Really enjoyed the ferry ride over. The zoo was large but not overwhelming. Good for a slightly drizzly day. Some construction is underway, but I still highly recommend.

Had a lovely sunny day at the zoo. We went across the harbour to the zoo by one of the local ferries . We saw the chimpanzees getting fed - their was lots of squabbling about who would get the food first . The giraffes are in a great position to take a photo with Sydney harbour bridge in the back ground . All in all a nice place to visit .
