Had a great walking tour with Welile. I did a morning tour and was the only person that booked so it became a private tour unintentionally. Welile was very informative and engaging while showing me all that Soweto has to offer. I walked away with more knowledge of the history of Soweto and also enjoyed the lunch provided. Highly recommend this tour if you want to see the cultural side of Jo'burg.

We felt in security all along the trip. Excellent communication.

We would never had done that visit without a guide. She was local and knew very well the neighborhood.

Highly recommended!

We booked a last minute Soweto tour with One Day Africa (via get your guide) and our tour guide was Welile. It was an eye opening and the most informative tour of Soweto, the anti apartheid movement/revolution and the entire timeline about the history of South Africa. We spent close to 4 hours and Welile gave us a very comprehensive history. The tour included Mandela House and ended with a brief tour of the impoverished area of the Soweto township. We all learned a great deal thanks to Welile.

My Soweto tour experience with a knowledgeable guide was flawless. Every aspect, from insightful commentary to navigating the streets seamlessly, was perfect. Highlights included Vilakazi Street and the Hector Pieterson Memorial. Highly recommended for an enriching Johannesburg experience.

We had a fantastic walking tour with Welile who really made the experience so special on our first day in South Africa!

He took us through all the different parts of Soweto and answered our questions, along with asking many about the UK and his interest in history.

We experienced Nelson Mandela's house, a local taxi, street food, locally brewed beer and met a lot of local people.

100% recommend that you book this tour and go with an open mind, as it gives you a different insight into Johannesburg and its people.

Very interesting tour around Orlando East and West. We ended up being the only ones on the tour and it was Easter Monday so the Mandela House was not open so the tour moved a little bit faster than typical. After learning about the history of the neighborhood, we enjoyed an early lunch (come hungry!) and then a minibus taxi ride to the East side. The tour adds important context to other tours/historical sites you might do in Johannesburg!

One of my favorite experiences in South Africa. Welile and Tamba were so gracious, thoughtful, funny, and real. I learned so much from them on a personal experiential level as residents of Soweto while also having the opportunity to spend time at remarkable places like the Mandela House and the Hector Pieterson Memorial. Truly cannot say enough good things about this tour, and can't rate them highly enough.

We truly enjoyed our tour with Welile, you can feel his energy and passion on how he narrate the events of distant past and how it impacted the neighborhood of Soweto. Til next time! And we can’t wait to do a food tour!

Great walk round with excellent information from your guide. Lunch was served 11.10 - bit early maybe. Very end of tour felt like we had run out of things to do/see…. Maybe just shorten tour ad time?
