You'll arrive at Thingvellir National Park, a UNESCO World Heritage site. Once there, you'll take a short journey through the volcanic, moss-laden fields of the park. Here, you will listen as your friendly and experienced PADI Divemaster guide.

Later, you'll receive all of the necessary equipment for snorkeling in Silfra, including neoprene hoods and gloves, a thermal drysuit, snorkel and fins. The equipment will keep you buoyant throughout your time in the fissure, as well as offering a protection against the water.

Once in the water, your eyes will meet the incredible shades of blue so prevalent in the fissure, as well as the natural under-water flora canyon walls. As you are swimming you will have the opportunity to swim across continents, as you will be switching back and forth from the North American and Eurasian tectonic plates. After the tour GoPRO pictures will be sent to you by email for free.

Beautiful views, you can’t believe that that’s what lies under the surface of the water. If you go in winter like us, do wear base layers / thermal top and leggings to go under your dry suit (we missed the memo, but we were still fine). Veronica was our guide and she was fab.

Jana was an amazing guide! I had never been snorkeling before and she helped me feel cool, calm and safe, all while hyping me up! The experience was unreal and so worth it. I highly recommend! Jana also took photos not only of us snorkeling but the views underwater, which was great to have some images to look back on.

The whole experience was amazing! Kevin took amazing pictures from this once in a lifetime experience! Gave step by step instructions so we would stay warm and no issues at all with any water getting in the dry suit! Highly recommend!

Our guide was Lu. She is funny, helpful and very informative.

The dry suit is very tight and only a thin layer of clothing fits underneath. If you come in winter, don't forget thick socks! :)
The equipment itself is not particularly heavy.
The walk from the parking lot to the snorkel entrance is definitely doable. A bit cold at first but bearable.
During the snorkeling tour, many pictures are taken of you and you are regularly asked if everything is okay.

At the end, we were given a chocolate bar and an unfortunately not so hot chocolate.

We thought it was great and would definitely recommend the tour.

Yana, our tour guide was the best, she was an inspiration and incredibly helpful. The prep was awful. You need to pay for enough vans so we can all get in our dry suits inside and not freeze BEFORE getting in cold water. Crazy.

Really great experience and glad we did it. Was -18C the day we went, was really cold outside but the water was similar temperature. The guides did everything to keep you as warm as possible and looked after you throughout. The cold didn’t put us off seeing the great views underwater and would recommend going

My boyfriend and I just got back from our trip to Iceland and really enjoyed our snorkeling tour with Troll Expeditions. The morning of our tour, we were staying about an hour away from the meet up point and our GPS said that we would make it to the meeting site a tad behind the required time. I reached out to Troll Expeditions to inform them that we were running a little behind. They remained in contact with me until the moment we showed up at the meeting point (and made it just in time!). I'm not a super experienced snorkeler but this tour was easy enough for any level to enjoy. The only thing that concerned me was having to wear a dry suit for the first time ever. I'm not typically claustrophobic but started to feel a little bit once I started putting the suit on. I even had to have some additional straps put on my neck and both wrists to ensure no water would get in my suit. Initially I was afraid that once I got into the water, I would feel physically restricted, however luckily I didn't. Yes, the water is freezing but the only cold you'll feel is the water on your face but not much skin is exposed once you have your mask on. I told my boyfriend that I might not be able to make the entire snorkel as I was worried about the restrictiveness of my suit (and not being used to it), however I was in such awe of the clearness of the water and the unique surroundings, that I ended up doing the entire snorkel. I'm so glad we did this tour and cannot recommend Troll Expeditions enough. Kevin was our guide and he was so helpful and informative. We even ran into him when walking around Reykjavik a few days later.

A really well organised event and yet kept low key and informal so I did not feel under any pressure even though it was a bit worrying doing this in December. It was cold, but nothing painful. The worst was my toes going a bit numb by tge end, but they soon warmed up on the wslk back to tge van. All the supplied kit worked well and fitted perfectly (even though I a quite tall). The instructions were perfect and easy to follow. Even though you need to be able to swim, you can't sink in the dry suit! Easy to paddle around and get some great views of the Silfra fissure and the beautiful colours of the water.
I would recommend this activity to anyone looking for a unique geological challenge.
