We promise you a journey back in time, castles that were built by the legendary Knights Templar and then later used by the Knights of Christ, the guys that set up the Age of the Discoveries.
At the first stop, there will be a short boat trip that will take the group to the island of the Almourol Castle, the most stunning medieval castle you can find in Portugal, with breathtaking views and sceneries around.
Next the medieval journey will take you to Tomar, a city founded by the Knights Templar that turned out to be also important a few centuries after when Henry, the Navigator, was the leader of the Knights of Christ.
In Tomar there is a stop at Santa Maria do Olival Church, former mausoleum of the Masters of Knights Templar in Portugal, and at the Convent of Christ, one of the most outstanding and important buildings for Portuguese history, an UNESCO site since 1983.

This was the most amazing tour we took. It was so filled with knowledge, history and amazing archaeological sites. our tour guide was absolutely fantastic. Five star plus.

We had an amazing time and got to see a lot more than we could have seen on our own. Our tour guide Daniel was very informative and did a great job. A great way to see Tomar and a few other sights in a short amount of time.

Everything was PERFECT! Ricardo (our tour guide) is himself a historian, so he gave us a thorough review of the Templars, showed us through all the major sites and took us to a nice restaurant in Tomar. He even got us a little sweet! Very nice guy, great conversationalist. We loved it!

Do not miss this trip! This is a true guided tour and Danielo leaves no detail out. He is a walking encyclopedia of the Knights Templar and the history of the monastery. And Danielo was engaging and truly loves what he does with a passion for history.
Plus, he had a unique way of “brining together” our small group together. So, for the entire day we all felt like we were among a group of friends.
And we got to experience some traditional Portuguese food not found in Lisbon, afterwards.
Go have fun and explore with Danielo — he/trip will not disappoint.

Daniel had a wealth of knowledge to share. He was very helpful with a stool as I walk with a cane. There should be a caution on the trip description that there are a lot of steps involved in this tour.

A fantastic day with Miguel. The castle and convent were very different but both were incredible. Tomar itself is quite underrated. It’s as charming as any town we’ve been to in Europe yet not crowded . Our guide Miguel was one of the best we’ve ever had. He switched from English to Spanish all day long, effortlessly, and provided detailed overviews of each site, and of the Templars overall. I would strongly recommend this tour.

This trip is under-rated by many tourists, but it is a must! Miguel - our guide - was a walking encyclopedia :) and extremely attentive to everyone of us.
