You can’t go wrong with Temptation Tours. We’ve taken three different tours with them over the years and have enjoyed them all. They take care to hire the best tour guides.
This year we took one of the company’s Road to Hana tours. The “cave quest” tour included a delicious lunch and a chance to explore a lava tube. The serpentine Road to Hana is treacherous at times, to say the least, so this is one drive that you shouldn’t attempt on your own. Besides, you would miss out on some very valuable content.
Ray was our wonderful guide. He’s the kind of guy that you wish you could hang out with on a regular basis to continue conversing with him. He’s naturally curious and very knowledgeable. I greatly appreciate that he doesn’t sugar-coat the history of Hawai’i just to make it palatable for tourists. His frankness and depth of understanding are truly refreshing. If all you know about Hawai’i is that they have luaus and tiki torches, you need to take this your. You won’t regret it.

This is the 4th or 5th Road to Hana Tour that I have been on. Sue Hopkins was our guide and I don't think she repeated anything that I had heard on any previous tour. She was knowledgeable about the geology, vulcanic action, plants, trees, native wildlife and much more. She was a fantastic guide and we had a great time in spite of having to deal with rain!

Paul Janes-Brown was the most PROFESSIONAL, KNOWLEDGEABLE guide I have ever experienced! My journey was extraordinary because of his OUTSTANDING personality that made me feel that no question was an invasion of his time. I learned so much from him about the island that I feel comfortable with returning and sharing my experience with others. In addition, I felt safe on those winding roads, appreciated his samples of island chocolate, stories about celebrities and music. He is also a member of the Screen Actors Guild.

Gail was exceptional! Her local knowledge combined with her driving skills made for an outstanding day. She knew the best places to stop for photos and managed to get us to them when other tours were elsewhere. I highly recommend this tour.

Aloha! My wife, our son and daughter-in-law joined our guide Ernie for a very educational trip to Hana and back. Ernie picked us up at the Grand Walea where we were staying in a very comfortable van. The winding road was an adventure. As we traveled to Hana, Ernie pointed out the various plants and trees and educated us on Hawaiian/ Polynesian culture and history. Ernie has decades of experience in this business. We traveled to the lava tube which we entered and explored then enjoyed lunch which Ernie had waiting for us when we came out of the lava tube (cave). We traveled to Hana and the black sand beach at the State park. We also stopped and was given the opportunity to get in the water at a couple of beautiful waterfalls. Ernie also stopped at the beach where sea turtles galore were resting, some must have weigh 400 pounds. We got our moneys worth from this trip. I highly recommend using Temptation for your tour and ask for Ernie.

This tour was wonderful Gail was very knowledgeable about everything and she was very personable. She was always quick to the rescue for anything we needed along the way. On a scale of one to ten I would rate her as a ten definitely.

I was a bit apprehensive about this trip because of all the stuff I had heard about the dangerous road. But everyone says it’s a must see… so I booked this private tour with my family. Gail, our tour guide, was phenomenal. Not once did I have anxiety. She was so knowledgeable about all the history and made us laugh on may occasions. She made sure that we had seen everything we wanted and still had us back in plenty of time for our dinner reservations. She assisted us with pictures that we wanted. I have honestly never seen a tour guide more prepared. Everything from snacks, drinks, TP, hand soap, sanitizer, umbrellas, and wipes the windows after every rain occurs CE to make sure we could get optimal pictures. Gail even helped me wrap my knee that was really bothering me. I can not recommend this company enough. Thank you Gail for giving us the most memorable day.

Awesome day with Gail our tour guide she was very smart about the trip she knew when the best times for little to no people, the day was fun and full of laughter I would recommend asking for Gail she will not disappoint!

We did a private tour and had an absolute blast! It is so worth spending the money as you get so much history and a more personalized experience! If you get the chance ask for Gayle Shufeldt! She was fantastic and so knowledgeable. Her experience was prominent as she navigated the road which is very tricky. She engaged with locals and truly showed us the Hawaiian way. Her 34 years on the island gives a in depth history of how Hawaii and especially Maui came to be how it is today. Her details on respecting the land and the local culture taught us a whole new level of respect. Gayles attention to timing was huge as we did not get stuck at stops with multiple other tour buses. She found the best times of day to stop and explained her reasoning behind all of it! This attention to detail gave us a better look at the attractions without the crowds! Highly recommend! Thanks Gayle for helping our family create memories we will cherish forever!
