One of our favorite days in Puerto Rico: hiking muddy trails, climbing rocks, learning about the rainforest, swimming across a river, drinking from a waterfall, going down natural waterslides, cliff jumping, rope swinging and having lunch in Luquillo.
The experience with Hidden Excursions was awesome. Our guide, Mitchell, was entertaining, full of energy, interesting and knowledgeable. He is one of my family's favorite guides ever. We went with Hidden Excursions because their groups are limited to 6 people (though we had 7 in ours). Pickup and dropoffs were quick and we moved much faster than the other much larger groups on the trail and were able to stay ahead of the crowds.

Juan was excellent! Very friendly and knowledgeable. Whole family enjoyed our time with him. Juan took lots of photos and videos for us during our adventure. He took us to a great restaurant for lunch afterwards too. Couldn’t have asked for a better experience.

I booked this excursion as a Christmas gift for my 12 and 14 year old sons. It did not disappoint. I am sure all of the guides are amazing, but Mitchell was fabulous! Both boys said it was the best Christmas present they have ever received and asked, next time we come to Puerto Rico can we make sure to book this again and make sure Mitchell is our guide!
I would 100% recommend this tour to anyone that wants some adventure and fun.

Adriana provided us with a super fun day on private land near El Yunque. She is passionate about conservation and her love of her rainforest was so obvious.
Hiking in the mud was fun, but make sure you wear solid hiking shoes as you are basically bouldering to climb up the rocks to get to the fun!! Also recommend hiking in your swimsuit, as my pants over the swimsuit were not needed and they got super dirty in the mud!!
My favorite part was the natural water slide, life jackets provided! My 10 year old liked the cliff jump and the rope swing the best.
Would definitely take this excursion again!
Adriana made sure we had a safe experience but also had fun. At the end she took us to a great local lunch spot (not included with fees).
Highly recommend, ask for Adriana!!

This was an amazing tour! Soooo much better to go super early (pickup at our AirBnB in Condado at 7:00a). We were hiking in with only a few other groups. When we left it was so crowded and definitely less enjoyable.
This tour secures parking at a safe spot so you can leave everything in the car. We had use of a hose, bathroom and changing room after the tour.
Carlos, our fantastic guide, was the absolute best. So great at sharing his knowledge of the area, the history, and the island culture. Thank you Carlos!!
Finally, some tips for prep:
-Wear clothes that are dark or that you won't care about stains. You will get VERY muddy.
-wear clothes and shoes that you can climb, hike, swim in. Not hiking boots! Water shoes are good (even cheap ones from Walgreens)
-no sunscreen or bug spray needed.
-bring a towel and change of clothes and shoes for ride home
-this is a somewhat challenging hike. Not far, but you need to be able to climb over large boulders (with assistance from your guide).

Very strongly recommend this tour if you can climb a bit. Very different from the traditional El Yunque tours. Our guide Mitchel was great, very knowledgeable and helpful as we walked in mud, waded in the river and climbed slippery rocks. He took us to a traditional “grandma shack” for lunch. Authentic Puerto Rican food
