Taking a tour is well worth it. Bypassing the lines is key to make the day more pleasant. The guide was friendly, knowledgeable and well spoken. Only issue was the delay, by over 30 mins, in getting the guide to our meeting point. One family had a toddler and a baby carriage. They should be warned that there are stairs which made them struggle getting the carriage up and down. Overall it was a very good experience.

Alexandra was wonderful. Best guide of our trip. Knowledgeable, friendly and funny. Even though most of the Borghese paintings are temporarily in the Barberini ( a must see and only 5EU if you have a Borghese ticket), the Bernini sculptures are amazing.

Be very careful booking this trip. We booked it for a family of 6 people and were expecting to get a guided tour, as stated on the booking. Instead we were given our skip the line tickets and left at the entrance to the museums with no guide.
It is an amazing place to visit, but would have been so much more enjoyable with the knowledge of a guide to explain things rather than having to read the small inscriptions for each exhibit.

The guided tour was well worth it. We could skip lines and learn so much more than if we went on our own. It also cut down on time because our guide explained it all as we went!

Tour guide was very knowledgeable and showed us all the highlights in the museum. We ended in St Peter’s Basillica to tour on our own. Not too busy in May.

This was a pretty sad experience. Granted, you did get to skip the line for the Sistine Chaple and St Peter's Basilica, but the amount of poorly spent time on the tour was not too different from the amount of time you would spend in line. We had one day in Rome with a lot to see, so we weren’t too keen on spending over an hour on things like the new entrance to the museum and a new art sculpture outside, etc. before even entering into the museum. We then spent a crazy amount of time talking about how to read maps while walking through that portion of the museum. Overall, it was slightly better than just standing in line, but it was a disappointing experience in a day with a lot on the plate.

Skip the line tickets are a must for anything near the vatican or you will spend the entire day in line. With that said, every space is packed. In order to get through the crowds and not lose the guide, the tour is moving at a great pace through each space. No time for photos, no time to read any descriptions of anything in the museums, just walking quickly through everything. We had less than 10 minutes in the Cistine Chapel itself, but it was so packed with people that we couldn't really see much anyway. Look up, keep walking, and you are out. There was more space and time in the Basilica, so that was nice. We had booked a morning tour, but it was moved to afternoon which was not great.
