This is a hidden gem in Penang and a must see if you are into music. Phenomenal tour walking you through historical influences of music in the area. Including displays, audio recordings and instruments you can try. Done in a perfect manor, plenty of details but not overwhelming. Totally appropriate for kids as the interactive instruments give them fun stuff to do. Even though we had taken several other tours while here, this experience taught us even more about the region and its history.

This was one of the highlights of my time in Malaysia! The guided tour gave super interesting insights into the history of Malaysian music and various influences that have shaped it, and was all run in a very fun and friendly way! Loved the guidance on how to play all the instruments and the chance to give it a go

I'd definitely recommend this to anyone interested in music and learning about different music around the world - I recommended it to people in my hostel as soon as I got back.

I've got some new artists and songs which I'm excited to check out!

BRILLIANT, if you’re interested in thr history of music of Penang!
Kevin took us round, explaining about bogeys, gamelan, chinese and Indian influences. You can enjoy a VR experience, try out a recording booth, and even play instruments. Awesome!

This place is wonderful! An interactive lesson in the richness of the past, history seen through the lens of music. We had 5 children with us, between the ages of 9-12 and they all agreed it was cool and interesting and were kept engaged for a good 2 hours. It was nice to speak to them after and listen to the things that especially captured their attention. The treasure hunt in the end was genius! Thank you Penang House of Music for a great initiative.

Awesome experience! It's not only music but you also get a sense of Malaysian history. It's interactive, you can play instruments, read books, play vinyls. Tour guide Joyce was awesome and provided a lot of information and interesting facts.
Definitely a recommendation while in George Town. Not only for music nerds. :)
