Explore Sintra and Cascais on a 9-hour group tour from Lisbon, limited to 8 people and only in English. Then you’ll visit the westernmost point of continental Europe - Cabo da Roca - once considered the end of the world. It will take your breath away! On the way to Cascais, you´ll enjoy astonishing sea views. Then you'll stop at Cascais, a lovely beach town where you can stroll around, have lunch, or snack. Your last stop is the unique and surprising Pena Palace, a formers royal palace that looks like a fairytale.

1. Centro Historico de Sintra
Sintra is an old and mainly pedestrian village that was founded thousand years ago. The Greeks named Sintra the "Mountain of the Moon" and today is still a true fairy tale village. Is a UNESCO world heritage site since 1995. Here you will have free time for lunch (lunch costs are not included) and to enjoy some famous travesseiros (pillows), in a old bakery that existed since 1862, they are light puff pastries that are turned, rolled and folded seven times, and then filled with delicious almond-and-egg-yolk cream and lightly dusted with sugar. You can also enjoy the Sintra cheesecakes.

Colares and its famous wine cellars are on our way to the Atlantic Ocean. Colares is a quaint village famous for its wine, a royal passion that started in the 13th century. The landscape had been sticking in time and around we can enjoy old villas, beautiful mansions, small and big farm areas or a centenary tram.
4. Cabo da Roca
We will make a stop in the wild Cabo da Roca, which is a 150 meters (500 feet) cliff that forms the western most point of continental Europe. Facing the roaring Atlantic, this spot is a surprising and remote landscape with amazing views.
5. Farol do cabo da Roca
The Cabo da Roca lighthouse is one of Portugal's most famous lighthouses. We cannot go inside, but we can enjoy this beautiful XVIII-century building from the outside.
6. Guincho Beach
The Guincho beach is beautiful sandy beach area 9 km away from Cascais. It’s a protected landscape where we can see dunes and endemic flora. It’s also a popular destination for surfers.
7. Museu Condes de Castro de Guimaraes
This summer palace was built between 1897-1900 by an Irish nobleman, Jorge O'Neill. It's a classic example of "summer architecture".
8. Palacio Cidadela Cascais
The Citadel of Cascais is a set of fortifications built between the XV century and the XVII century to defend Cascais and Lisbon. Was, since the XIX century, a former Royal Palace area.
9. Centro Historico de Cascais
Cascais is a former fishing village that gained fame as a resort for Portugal's royal family in the late 19th century and early 20th century. Nowadays, it is a popular vacation spot for both Portuguese and foreign tourists. Nowadays is village with small museums, picturesque gardens, a shiny marina and a pedestrianized old town. We will stop here for a while and sugest you to try the most famous ice cream of Portugal, Santini’s Gelati!
10. Park and National Palace of Pena
We will visit the remarkable Pena Palace, one of the major expressions of 19th-century romanticism in the world. The current palace dates back to 1839, when King Ferdinand II bought the ruins of the Monastery of Our Lady of Pena and started to adapt it for use as a residence according to his romantic taste. We will, not only visit the Pena Palace, but also explore some parts of the Pena Park.

A great way to spend a day away from Lisbon. Sintra and Cascais are two beautiful spots worth visiting and our driver/guide Karolina was so lovely and charismatic that she made the day extra special.

Incredible! Our tour guide, Marta, was amazing! She spoke perfect English, was very knowledgeable, and her storytelling was impeccable. She truly made the tour that more magical for us.

It was a long day (~ 10 hours) but it didn’t feel like a chore. The balance of walking, driving and free time was perfect.

Sintra is beautiful and a must-see. Loved it. Cascais is a beach town and should be avoided in winter. Cold, windy, and not much to do when the beaches are freezing. Probably they need a different location to visit in winter instead of Cascais. Also, the tour came back an hour late and drove right past our hotel without dropping us off so we were stuck longer than necessary on the late-tour. Our guide was great and I would still recommend Sintra.

If you have little time and want to see a lot this is helpful but it is definitely fast paced and rushed to fit everything in. The guide was super friendly, educative, and patient she was great for sure. However if you want to check the areas out you will only have 45 mins for Sintra, 10 for the water view, Cais Cais was 1.5 hours to eat which basically took the whole time and didn't get to explore or buy souvenirs, take pics etc.. The palace was the longest 2 hrs and felt like an ok amount of time but again very go, go, go for our travel style.

We had an amazing time doing this tour. Our guide Ines was incredible. Her knowledge and enthusiasm was out of this world! The beauty that you see on this day out is amazing.
I cannot recommend this enough and if you are lucky enough to have Ines as your guide you are in for a treat!

Let me begin by thanking Carolina for a splendid tour! She is a Lisboa local and a true Wikipedia on every aspect of this tour. Thank you for being so kind and accommodating to our 4.5 years old daughter - you already have a fan in her!
As for the tour, it is a great experience - good mix of guided part and some quality time of your own. Perhaps, we could spent more time at Cascais - a magnificent Rivera with some great food and enchanting beaches.
