Paulo did a great job as our guide. Sintra was an amazing place to walk, shop and snack.

Lots of walking, bring comfortable shoes.

Paulo was a gracious tour host maneuvering well between English and French. He navigated the group through throngs of tourists and accommodated special requests when necessary. He also showed us the authentic side of Sintra by showing us where to get great food. His company was most enjoyable - made for a great experience overall!

A note to Trip Advisor as to how to market this trip. Best to let travellers know there’s a substantial amount of walking (10000 steps), the majority of which is up steep walkways. Had I known this I wouldn’t have walked 4 km to the meeting/check-in point.

This was an impressive operation for about 100 tourists. I'm usually not crazy about big group tours, but this was very well done. We were divided into groups of ~ 20 or so and assigned a guide; each group had their own bus and tour guide - ours was the excellent Ines.

The day started right on time in a clean air conditioned mini bus. 17 travelers, all in good spirits. The tour of was in English but Ines could also speak Portuguese, Spanish, and a bit of French and Italian. After a short drive, we were up in the cooler hill air of Sintra, being led around. Ines provided suggestions for delicious pastries as well as lunch. She explained the history of Regaleria. There really isn't a lot to see inside the house but the gardens and well are spectacular are definitely worth seeing. Be prepared: it's a LOT of walking uphill (which was OK for us but I think it would be uncomfortable on a really hot day). Not good for little kids or disabled people.

After lunch and a shot of Ginjinha (delicious sour cherry liqueur, a MUST try), we were off to Pena Palace. Again, a VERY steep walk uphill which some members of our group opted not to do. Ines' history of the palace was more interesting than the actual building, which has not been well maintained.

We were back in Lisbon ~ 5:30, after a busy 8 hour tour. I highly recommend it and if you are lucky you'll have Ines!

Good tour, friendly people. Lots of history shared. Small busses so not too crowded. Stops when you have too and not too rushed.

Sinatra is beautiful and worth seeing. I'm not sure about Pena palace because we didn't go in. Our guide Bruno was not good. This tour is a large group tour needs to have the mike and head phone setvup, we couldn't hear what the guide was saying. The walk to Sinatra is a long walk uphill and our guide set a very quick pace. He left my husband, who walks with a cane,1 behind. My husband can do the distance but the pace was too fast for him. When we got to Sinatra, thanks to kind person on the tour who cane back for us, my husband didn't feel up to the steps so he wasn't able to see the well. The bus was late picking us up after lunch, making us late for the palace tour and it was a speed walk to the palace which we could not do. We elected to take the tram up and wait for the guide to come back for us after getting everyone else into the palace.

Sintra is a magical place, steeped in history. Our guide gave us wonderful commentary throughout, a really enriching experience. We also stopped in Cascais for a short while, since the weather was favorable and it was on the way. Once in Sintra, it was nice to have some time on our own to wander and have lunch on our own. What a treat to see both Pena Palace and Regaleira (including the Initiation Well -- so dramatic!). I highly recommend this tour; you'll make the most of a day trip from Lisbon!

We took the train, followed by a Bolt taxi to the entrance of the Palace, the Bolt taxi moved around the narrow streets to avoid the traffic as much as he could. The volume of traffic was worrying as it looked like we were going to be in a long queue at the top but we had purchased our tickets before leaving the UK, and we walked straight in. There were a lot of people but at no point did it feel over crowded. The Palace is spectacular both inside and out and we'll worth the effort of getting there. We walked to Penna but be prepared to walk on uneven ground up and down hills which are not forgiving. Wear the right shoes. Penna is amazing but has lots of narrow steps which at points are difficult to pass the oncoming people. The walls are low children should be watched.

The sights were absolutely amazing. A well organized trip and tour guide (Gonzalo) made the entire trip so pleasant and fun. His humor and entertainment was out of this world. This tour is definitely worthwhile!
