This tour will be a day trip where travelers can enjoy the different faces of Sintra with the company of their own private guide. Travelers will visit the Pena National Palace and Quinta da Regaleira, both UNESCO World Heritage sites, as well as Monserrate Palace, National Palace the Moorish Castle and Cabo da Roca, the most western point of continental Europe. We will discover the colorful streets of Sintra while hearing fantastic stories about its history. After having a walk through the center you will learn about the fascinating architecture behind the National Palace in Sintra and before leaving you will taste its unique and delicious pastry, a delicacy which locals have been selling for more than two hundred years.
2. Castelo dos Mouros
Admire this X century castle in the middle of the lush forest of Sintra. You will get to know about the North African Moors who build it and about the Christians who conquered it 4 centuries later.
3. Quinta da Regaleira
After, we will enter a place that will make you feel in wonderland: Palace of Quinta da Regaleira. A place full of magic, romantic architecture and beautiful gardens. You will walk through its caves before you get to know the famous 27 meter iniciatic well and the stories behind it.
4. Parque e Palacio de Monserrate
We will stop for a few minutes to admire the amazing views of this 19th century summer palace. You will learn about its famous owner and his exorbitant hobbies, while admiring the unique architecture behind it.
5. Praia das Azenhas do Mar
Embark on a beautiful drive where you will encounter the picturesque and hidden towns of Colares and Penedo until we reach the coastline and the amazing village of Azenhas do Mar. Azenhas do Mar offers one of the best viewpoints where you will be able to appreciate this breathtaking fisherman’s town
6. Praia Grande
We will stop at this amazing rock cliff beach in the coast. In Praia Grande you will have lunch in a beachfront local restaurant that offers delicious sea food and meat choices. For those curious to try Portuguese cuisine, this is the perfect place.
7. Cabo da Roca
Explore the impressive coastline through secret places on our way to Cabo da Roca- The westernmost point of continental Europe. This place is what we call the end of the world. Be ready to admire the magnificent views and its cliffs.
8. Park and National Palace of Pena
End the day with the most colorful and magnificent palace in Sintra: the Pena Palace. A national monument that constitutes one of the major expressions of 19th-century Romanticism in the world. It is unique and it’s a classic example of the romanticism period in Portugal and in Europe. At the top you will have the best views toward Lisbon, Sintra, and Cascais.

Francisco was wonderful. In addition to being a great guide, we discussed literature and philosophy and art and medicine. He took us where we wanted to go and made recommendations for stops. Coffee and Astrid at the oldest bakery. Lovely seaside location for lunch. Exactly what we had hoped.

The entire day with fantastic. From Lisboa, Cabo de Roca, and Pena Palace in Sinatra and all the other places in between. When you’re on a private tour the guide has more time to explain and point out places of interest to you. Jose Dyson was a very knowledgeable and thoughtful guide.

Sintra is a must and this was a fuller experience for having Antonio as our guide. My adult daughter and I loved learning about Portuguese history, and experiencing the beauty and intricacies of the sites and the region. Knowing that we were vegetarian with some fish, he took us to the perfect restaurant. Additionally we enjoyed getting to know him - his kindness shined through.

Marta was a wonderful tour guide. Knowledgeable and knew how to navigate the crowds. The private tour was excellent. We visited on a rainy day and Marta was prepared with umbrellas. The palaces we lovely and we enjoyed the western most point of Europe and choosing our fresh fish for lunch. This private tour maximizes our time with touring options. A must do!
