This tour is the best way to visit Sintra away from the crowds. You cycle through the mountains and discover some of the region’s secrets.

The tour starts at the Rossio station, where we board the train to Sintra (UNESCO). First, we visit the town and stop next to the huge white chimneys of the Sintra National Palace, to taste the famous Sintra cheesecake.

Then, we cycle pleasantly by the Regaleira Palace, the Seteais Palace and the Monserrate Palace.

Lunch is in an unforgettable place for its uniqueness and price-quality ratio.

Next, we have the option to travel to the magical Cabo da Roca, the westernmost point of continental Europe.

The view gets even more breathtaking when we reach the sanctuary of Peninha, from where we continue to the wild Guincho beach, where we have a break.

Finally, we proceed to Cascais, a former fishing village, now an elegant Portuguese resort town, and ride along its magnificent bay on the dedicated bike path.

The return to Lisbon is by train.

1. Rossio Train Station
The tour begins with a briefing on how the bikes work, at Martim Moniz Square in central Lisbon. You’ll then head to Rossio station to catch the train for Sintra. During the train trip, you’ll have time to let your guide know if you’d like to visit some of the palaces along the way or if you just want to cycle.

When you arrive in Sintra, you can visit the National Palace if you like. Most of your cycling tour takes place within the natural park of Sintra-Cascais.
3. Quinta da Regaleira
You’ll have the option of visiting Quinta da Regaleira, built between 1904 and 1910, and a place renowned for its symbolism, magic, and mystery.

Shortly after you’ll pass by Seteais, a former 18th-century palace that is now a 5-star hotel.
5. Parque e Palacio de Monserrate
Continue your trip along roads flanked by majestic groves until you reach the entrance of Monserrate Park and Palace, one of the most beautiful creations in the Portuguese Romanticism style.
6. Colares
Arrive at Colares, a place that’s well known for its vineyards.

Continue on to Penedo village, where you’ll enjoy breathtaking views from the atrium of the church, before cycling on to Urgueira village. Take a break for lunch in Azóia village, where you’ll find a great variety of restaurants.
8. Santuario da Peninha
With renewed energy, continue your tour through an ancient forest and make your way up to the Peninha Sanctuary, located at 488 meters above sea level.
9. Park and National Palace of Pena
From here, you’ll have a panoramic view of the Espichel Cape and Arrábida, to the south, Carvoeiro Cape and the Berlengas, to the north, and the entire Sintra mountain to the north-east. Returning to the center of Sintra, you’ll cycle downhill and have one last look at Pena Palace, an important monument of the Portuguese Romanticism movement. You’ll be traveling with an informative and helpful guide, as passionate about beloved Sintra as about cycling.
10. Guincho Beach
Alternatively, go down to Guincho wild beach – with its never-ending dunes and typical winds that are so treasured by windsurfing lovers – until you reach the bicycle path to Cascais.
11. Cascais
Return to Lisbon through the beautiful town of Cascais by train where you will have one of the most amazing views over the Portuguese coast.

This was the best way to see Sintra and Cascais! What a fun and beautiful ride and Ricardo was so much fun and made the experience so enjoyable. This was a highlight of our trip to Portugal.

Bruno….ask for Bruno. We had the most enjoyable time with Bruno and his personal touch, made it an absolutely incredible event. He took the time to explain so many things to us, and did not just throw random facts out there to make up something, because if he didn’t know the answer he would straight up tell us…I don’t know that. I read in one review where someone complained about the cars racing by you as you rode up the mountain, but I can assure you it was not scary at all. The entire trip even to include riding up to the large palace on the hill overlooking the ocean, was worth every bit of it. Between the four of us on this trip, seven days in Europe and Africa, and we collectively voted this single day as the best one. You won’t be disappointed Obrigado, Bruno.

The beginning of this tour started with the guide getting us late to the train to begin the ride. But we pivoted and had a good experience until 4 pm and 3 of the people on the tour told the guide they had a flight in 3 hours. At that point he rushed all of us to try to make it back. Unacceptable as the last 1.5 hours we had to ride in a busy highway with cars zooming right next to us. Very dangerous. This route also made us miss the most beautiful part of the ride trading view for highway. Then to end, the train was leaving as we loaded our bikes and the guide missed the train. All in all a cluster of events! The last two hours ruined the tour and endangered our lives.

This was the best day of our holiday to Lisbon. Great E bikes, effortless cycling around the most picturesque countryside, fabulous lunch and wonderful scenery. Guided by Daniel who was very friendly and knowledgeable. Highly recommended. Top tip: book directly with Lisboa Autentica.

We had a great tour with Bruno. He took great care to get us out to Sintra on the train and we enjoyed our time with him and on the bikes. The bikes worked flawlessly and we were able to cover a lot of ground, seeing an incredibly diverse landscape - from small towns to deep forest, to coastal beach to hip beach towns. We had an incredible lunch at a small local restaurant somewhere at the top of the world up there. The bikes lasted the whole day, and we were able to cruise through the streets at the end of the day into the shop. It was a great way to see these places and avoid some of the crowds and lines and traffic.

Best day of the whole trip. Daniel was so friendly and engaging. Knowledgeable and fun. He seemed to have dialed in perfectly what our group was like. The tour went to a "grill"for lunch and that itself was a fantastic experience. The food was so good. You have to do this tour. Ended up by beautiful beaches. The only thing I would change if time permitted would be that we could spend a few minutes on the beach not looking at it.

This bike tour was a great way to enjoy a day out of the city! Our tour guide was very informative and accommodating of everyone's needs and preferences. The scenery was beautiful and the food at our lunch stop was incredible! The hills are no joke, but the e-bikes made the ascents easy to manage. Our tour ran longer than 7 hours (and it was worth it!), so plan adequate buffer time if you want to make dinner reservations after the tour. Highly recommended!

Fantastic ride to Sintra and Cascais on e-bikes with a stop for authentic Portuguese lunch. We had beautiful scenery to see and our guide Jorge was beyond amazing. He made sure we were safe and that no one was left behind. He shared good bits of Portuguese history along the way. You will not be disappointed in taking this tour.

Jorge was a fantastic guide. Very knowledgeable about the history and culture of Sintra. Would highly recommend this tour. Great fun to be outside in the incredible countryside of Sintra and Cascais.
