The best tour company in all of Peru. We did the 2D/1N (in a hotel) Machu Pichu trek and it was incredible! The tour company made everything so easy, they were so organized! As we were hiking we noticed other tour companies and thought that ours was significantly better. Our guide, Ivan, was phenomenal! He was fun, easy to talk to, informative, passionate. He was the ultimate tour! They provide lunch on the hike and we were so impressed with the lunch! They cook (in the mountains) a full family style meal and it was delicious! The accommodation was excellent. This tour company is so good I would never go with anyone else. Everything was perfect. Ask for Ivan as a guide – he was incredible!!!

Guide was experienced and it was the perfect amount of time to explore and learn about machu pichu. Don’t book a one day trip to machu or you will get caught up in the queues. The 2D/1N, we were able to get to the best viewpoint later in the day and stay beyond the open hours. From there we stayed in the town and got up earlier enough to beat the crowds. All in all was well, thought the lunch on the second day should have been included.

We booked onto this tour last minute due to a change in travel plans. The website said that there were no spaces left but I emailed them on the off chance that they had space, and they did. The booking form on Android was a little tricky and it swapped us from overnight hotel to overnight camping. We asked to swap back which they were happy to do but then we stayed with the camping option.

The first 3 hours of the hike are very very tough. Uphill and battling with altitude - we'd been at altitude for a week and still struggled. However after lunch it was a lot gentler ascent to the sun gate and we could keep up a better pace. After the Sun Gate it's all downhill. However the path is uneven and rocky the whole way, often with steep drops. We saw a lot of people struggling with it at parts and it shouldn't be underestimated. The hike is described as moderate which it probably is overall, but the first 3 hour section is very difficult. It takes 3 to 4 hours to cover around 4.5k as an idea on the frequency of stops and the difficulty. The 4 day tour stops after this section whereas the 2 day tour carries on for another 3 hours, so it is a lot of walking in one day.

We were in a small group of just 3 with our guide Lucio who was an encyclopedia about plants, animals and Incas. Lunch was incredible with soup to start, stir fried beef, fish, vegetables, rice, avocado - all with local ingredients. The porters go ahead of you along the same trail and set up a tent for lunch, then unpack and take a trail to the campsite to set up for dinner.

Dinner was just as good with plantain, potato cakes, chicken stew, vegetables and rice.

The campsite is by the river and is loud with cockerels and dogs barking but they do provide earplugs. The campsite is basic but there are hot showers and a toilet.

The tour around Macchu Pichu is also great. You get to skip the bigger queues as you're a hiker. Lucio answered any and all questions and was a fountain of knowledge. However I think the best part is the hike up and seeing all the other Inka ruins as well as Macchu from the satellite view.

Alpaca were incredibly well organised from the briefing to the actual tour. Our tickets were all arranged, all transfers and pick ups, everything was thought of. This tour is more expensive than others but we understand the porters are paid more than other tour companies and that they do charitable work in the porter's villages.

I would highly recommend Alpaca. The tour was well organised, Lucio was an excellent guide, the scenery is absolutely stunning and the food incredible.

Initially quite ambivalent due to being extremely expensive compared to other tours and we booked super last minute and was one of the only companies that had space.
I was told the money filtered down through to porters, chefs and guides, although, the company should perhaps make this clearer in their advertising or maybe give an indication of what cut the staff are getting to prevent putting people off.
The whole experience was definitely worth it.
Lucio our guide was fantastic throughout and was extremely knowledgeable about the inca trail, ecology and of course machu picchu.
The first morning of the hike was quite challenging with steep inclines but a lot more pleasant after lunch. Make sure you have acclimatised for a few days in cusco at least before booking on .
It's definitely worth doing the hike to machu picchu over just getting a ticket, the panoramic views from the sungate give you best views of machu picchu and the experience.
Lastly the food prepared by the chefs was authentic peruvian and was easily good restaurant standard
Would 100% recommend

We had Walter and Reynaldo as our guides. They went to incredible lengths to make our trip worth wile! Even though we had incredible bad luck with the weather conditions, they still managed to make this trip a memory for life.

Walter our guide was very knowledgeable and caring. I’m amazed how he is passionate about providing us with so much in depth information about the trail and Machu Picchu tirelessly! Reynold was rather quiet but very caring and supporting of some tour members who struggled during the hike.
We are very happy to have them both on this occasion and definitely my most memorable trip of my life! So glad I did it!

Simon Puma, our guide, was very informative and engaging. He also went at a slow pace which allowed us to catch our breath, given the high altitude.
