We rented a boat without a license for 6 hours. We were two adults and toured the island, stopping at 3 places for snorkeling and lunch.
The La Plage team was very welcoming, they even came to pick us up for free from our Airbnb. We had never driven a boat, it is very easy to pilot, small so it doesn't move badly when you move around in the boat.
They lend you a cooler, a telephone, a location beacon if needed and a map with things to see and traffic directions.
A must do if you like to be independent, magnificent panorama of the island and lagoon!

We had a great time. Was nice to have control of what we did. They provided a cooler and there was a market close by to get snacks. They picked us up from the cruise ship dock and took us back.

Fantastic afternoon on the little boat! If you're seeking a novel, independent excursion around the Lagoon to see sights and places that you won't be able to otherwise, this is highly recommended. Staff was tremendously patient (we were late to the meeting spot), helpful, and kind - made the whole affair entirely seamless and enjoyable; they went way above/beyond driving us down to Viatape after our excursion (about 20 minutes drive from their office). We'll do this activity a second time on our stay here, as it is so well worth it. Warmly recommended.

Amazing experience, friendly staff, well organized, safe.

I booked the self-drive boat rental two different days on my recent vacation. Both reservations I sent a note with my booking, requesting to upgrade from the usual 4 hour rental to a full day 8 hour rental. It was about $70 usd extra, well worth it.

They provide a portable phone that connects directly to them and gps tracker, which I appreciated! Also a map and cooler with ice.

I don’t regret booking two days, my wife and I had fun and saw a bunch of rays the second day, but one full day would be enough. Taking a boat on the lagoon is not for the faint of heart.

Will absolutely do again if I’m ever back in Bora Bora!

Rip off company ! We got to the dock after completing the documentation and security deposit please note you could be liable for a $2000 propellor if you hit the shallow coral/rocks especially when rough. The water was extremely rough and the lads on the beech stated that they did not recommend going out orjust give it a try. but stated that the office personnel do not come to the beach to see weather conditions !. Went back to the office with another couple who also thought it was too dangerous. We where offered a twin boat the next day with the other couple but we had another trip booked the following day so no refund offered. I am gradually putting this across all social media platforms to advise any potential travellers to be very carefully if thinking of booking these trips with these rip off companies.

Arrived yesterday but it was very windy and the two men that see you into the boat advised that it was unsafe and best to rebook but as we are departing today and have other plans we asked for a refund which the lady in the office said would be sorted out later but possibly only 50% which the other couple and ourselves said was not acceptable as the weather was the predominant factor and safety is paramount. When checking with Viator about a refund the company have refused saying that WE had refused to go on the boat which we hadn’t we had taken their employees advice to ensure safety it would appear that this company have no respect for their own staff’s experience ensuring safety and no respect for customers safety just money DO NOT BOOK WITH THIS COMPANY THEY ARE NOT FULFILLING THE BOOKING IF THE WEATHER IS MAKING IT UNSAFE AND A REFUND SHOULD BE MADE THIS IS A COMPLETE RIP OFF

Fun way to tour yourself around!! They give you a cooler but bring your own drinks and snacks. It's small and slow so I don't recommend if you're looking to speed around. The ladder is a bit rough getting in from the water...if you're a larger person I would ask them about their bigger boats! Great time!! Snorkeled and swam.

We never went on this trip because of poor communication by viator, when I was booking and later by the tour operator. When booking, I asked about and selected a 1pm trip with pick up at the St. Regis Dock. I was told that was what was confirmed. We were asked by the tour operator to switch to an 8am trip, which we agreed to. When I received the tickets, the tickets said 1pm departure and an email from the operator said 830a from the St Regis Base not Dick, which would cost us $150USD to get to at 830a. The operator said that they could get us using the free shuttle, but there would be no guarantee times for the excursion would match. We did not go due to the trouble and were charged the full amount, despite being within 24 hours; if the tickets were honored for the original 1pm start as listed on the ticket and both viator & the operator not disclosing the correct pick up information and charges. Had we known, we wouldn't have booked. I felt a 50% charge would be reasonable, but the operator did not respond back

I have rented a no-boat license catamaran from La Plage for a whole day, but initially was a bit apprehensive if I will be able to do it on my own. We had a very thorough explanation of how things work and what to do during an emergency, we also had a satellite phone, and they will test it before you leave, to make sure you know how to use it and it is in working condition. They can give you a cold box too, make sure you buy your food and drinks to take on this adventure. Important: Make sure you study the given map thoroughly, so you know where to go for the next stop! And before you leave the stop - study where to go for the next - it will save you time and nerves! The boat was not as new or nice as on photos but was in good shape and very easy to use. We encircled the entire lagoon during the whole day with enough time to do several stops, even visited a remote motu. I would do this again in a heart bit!
