Museum occupies the former enamel factory of Oskar Schindler, a German businessman who saved over a thousand Polish Jews during World War II. The museum's immersive exhibition guides visitors through the wartime history of Krakow, detailing the establishment and liquidation of the Krakow Ghetto.

The museum's permanent exhibition provides a comprehensive and immersive experience, taking visitors on a chronological journey through the wartime events that unfolded in Krakow. The narrative begins with the invasion of Poland in 1939, exploring the occupation and the establishment of the Krakow Ghetto. It delves into the lives of the Jewish population, the oppressive conditions they faced, and the eventual liquidation of the ghetto.

One of the most compelling aspects of the museum is its presentation of Oskar Schindler's role in rescuing Jewish workers.

Overcrowded even in January
Hot, claustrophobic. There were no vestiges of the factory, just a space divided into corridors, rooms and crowded areas. This could have been anywhere. No feeling that it was once a factory. There is so much more to see at WW2 museums in France.

A guide is not necessary as you can take your time around the factory on your own and with a guide you actually miss out on stuff bcos they get impatient when other tourists pass by the group

We booked this trip through get your guide.
The day before we planned to visit we ordered 11am but we’re messaged saying 12.20 our tour would start. We had booked a self guided walk around. However they gave us a guided tour for free because we had our tour time moved by over a hour.
The guide was very informative however it felt very rushed and we felt like we missed so much in most rooms.
We also thought this was about Schindler himself and what happened in this factory. However we found out that this was just the offices of the factory and the tour mainly focused on krakow history through the years. So not what we expected.
We used a bolt taxi to and from the factory as it is a long walk. Worked out around £3 each way for 4 people.
There is lockers inside for coats and bags so you can walk around freely. It is also very warm inside so please don’t take a jacket.
There is a small shop and a cafe on site plus a cafe across the road.
People also kept joining in our tour and following us around so the guide made the people who booked the tour wear a large sticker to see who should and shouldn’t be there. The guide does tell non paying to move along as we had all paid.
Overall it was a good experience but not what we expected and gutted to miss out some things as once you reach the end you can’t go back around.

You may be forgiven for thinking this will be a tour solely related to Oskar Schindler, going round and seeing the factories depicted in the movie.
It is not. It is a museum dedicated to the history of the invasion of Poland and what happened in Krakow which just happens to be housed in the factory owned by Schindler. You do see his office and some of the areas used in the film but he is mentioned only occasionally.
Interesting and very informative, the guide Marta (apologies if spelling not correct) was excellent detailing what happened just before and during WW2.
Museum is set out very well and whilst sold out did not feel overly crowded within the displays as was organised very well.
The entrance hall is a bit small and this can get crowded. You are required to hand in any rucksacks and they recommend you place coats in the cloakroom.
As I say we left around 12:30 and they were turning people away, so a must book to avoid disappointment.
Only complaint was the number of toilets , 3 I could find, which needs increasing.
All in all would recommend.

Very enjoyable tour and our guide was well informed. The tour was interesting and we learned a lot about this particular aspect of Kraków’s history. There was so much to take in so we did feel a little rushed but it is definitely worth taking a guided tour rather than going round on your own. Suzanna was a great guide.

Our guide was excellent. She balanced the information about Schindler, the factory & the film brilliantly with the information on Poland, WW2 and how the Nazis treated Jewish & non Jewish people. Really flowed well and my whole group definitely thought the private tour was worth doing. Highly recommend.
