Lorena was our tour guide. The weather wasn’t on our side but don’t let that derail you, we still had a fantastic time! We had plenty of food, could barely eat at the last stop. We had 3 drinks, an appetizer type dish, 2 entree type dishes and dessert. We learned pieces of history along the way. Overall, we really enjoyed ourselves!

Our hostess was Lorna. She was well informed about Puerto Rican Historical events. She entwined food culture in a way that highlighted African, Spanish Italian and Tiana influences.

My husband and I were happily surprised at the generous amount of food that was served at each location. One of my favorite appetizers was croquettes. It looks like a donut hole. It was 100% different! My favorite drink was the beer mismo. I do not like beer, but I loved this beer. It had a fruity taste to it. I also enjoyed the Mofongo. I appreciated eating a completely different variation of plantain preparation.

Our guide Lorna was wonderful! She shared her passion and knowledge of Puerto Rico as we explored Old San Juan. Beautiful place with rich history. The food was amazing. We had five tastings and three delicious rum drinks. If you have food allergies, be sure to contact Spoons directly. They are extremely helpful and will plan ahead with each restaurant to accommodate your dietary concerns. (I spoke with Paulina the day I booked the tour.) The pork, rice and bean dish was amazing! At each restaurant we had a charming private table ready and waiting. The service was friendly and quick. There was plenty of food. I would absolutely recommend this tour with Spoons. Hopefully, you will be fortunate enough to meet Lorna. Thank you, Lorna!!

My husband and I did the Sunset Walk & Taste Tour. We chose Spoon since they offered 2 cocktails, a small group size, and a lower price. They were incredibly responsive when we had a question, which we greatly appreciated. Our guide, Elliott, was fabulous. He was knowledgeable and did a great job of leading our group of 12 through the busy streets of Old Town. The tour included a decent amount of history, which I enjoyed.

Our first stop was in a fancy hotel. We had watermelon mojitos and ceviche. Naturally, I enjoyed my mojito since it’s one of my favorite drinks. I was surprised how much I liked the ceviche since I usually don’t like raw fish.

Our second stop was a causal restaurant where my husband and I had actually eaten at a few days earlier. We weren’t disappointed since we enjoyed the restaurant so much the first time around. We had croquettes and frozen hot chocolate, which were just as yummy as we remembered.

Our third stop was a bar on Calle de San Sebastián. We tried beer-mimosas that paired well with our cubanos. The cubano was my favorite dish of the night!

Our fourth stop was an intimate restaurant in a historical landmark. We tried a variation of mofongo and had coffee flan for dessert. Both were cooked well, but were not my taste

This tour is a good value with quality food that won’t leave you hungry. I’d recommend going on one of the first days you visit in order to orient yourself to Old Town San Juan!

San Juan was delightful and has a lot of history. The locals are very friendly and proud to be Americans. Old San Juan tour was a great tour so it is a must do. The only negative is there are no all inclusive resorts so the drinks and food can be very expensive. Not to worry because there are many wonderful restaurants within walking distance in the resort area. For those who enjoy a Pina Colada they are excellent here and they claim the recipe was first made in Puerto Rico.

The tour guide was great, the stops left something to be desired. Would have preferred more off the beaten path or street food vibes. Enjoyed learning the history, but overall do not think it was worth the price.
