Starting at Saguaro Lake Guest Ranch, you and your group will kayak down a scenic five mile stretch of river as it moves it's way through the Tonto National Forest. Participants often witness wild horses, birds and other wildlife that cool off in the river during the summer months.
We have the special privilege of being the only kayak rental company located right on the Salt River, so our trips launch directly from our site. Each reservation includes a kayak (or with advance request a paddleboard), paddle, PFD/personal flotation device and return shuttle to starting site.
This is an UNGUIDED kayaking experience. While this is primarily a scenic float there are sections of swift water and kayakers often tip out – so be prepared to get wet.

This is the first time my 26 year old daughter and I'd ever gone kayaking and I was really nervous about falling into the water and being unable to get back into the kayak. But it never happened. Instead I had a wonderful time enjoying the river, the scenery and the experience. The river was calm most of the float and those areas that were a bit challenging made the ride more fun. What gave me the most confidence (and fear) was the detailed orientation. This was a self-guided tour so the person who instructed us was really good at explaining what to do and how to do it. From paddling to climbing back into the kayak should you fall in, which in some ways made me want to run back to my truck and yet I also wanted to get in the kayak before I chickened out. I overcame the fear and found that I truly enjoyed the trip immensely. I'm bringing my husband next time. Yes, next time.

This kayaking experience was wonderful!! We were staying in Phoenix so it was definitely out of the way, but we lucked out with scheduling our ubers ahead of time. The ranch itself was gorgeous, and the views on the experience were even better. I would say that it is advertised as beginner friendly, but I disagree just a bit. I am not a beginner so I felt comfortable, but at certain times on the river it was a bit difficult due to rapids. The customer service was wonderful and transportation back to the ranch was great!! I would definitely recommend.

We had an amazing time. The staff was pleasant and helpful, the equipment in great condition and the river….pristine. We had quiet reflective periods and some fast water that made us pay attention. We will be back for sure.

SLR did an excellent job. They have this activity down. Easy to register and checking in was simple. Guides were friendly and knowledgeable. Kayaks were in excellent shape and the views are amazing.

The scenery along the ranch on the river was breathtaking. We did see wild horses on our trip. The instructions delivered by the staff were top notch and informative. Suggest kayaking in the early morning to avoid the tubers on the river.

I loved the fast water every so often. The scenery was incredible, but, the piece de resistance was when the herd of wild horse swam across the river right in front of us!

This was an absolute magical experience for my friend and I and we highly recommend to anyone in the Phoenix area! We were thrilled from start to finish. The staff was very friendly and helpful. The river views were spectacular as we wound through the canyon and saw wild horses along the way. So cool!! I already told my family we all need to come here to experience this together and I can't wait!
