The rum tasting tour surpassed all expectations. Exploring the rich history of Bacardi and the intricate rum-making processes was truly exhilarating. Our guide, Christian, was not only informative but also kept us entertained with his wit. I wholeheartedly endorse this tour for first-time visitors to the region. I'm already planning to attend the mixology class on my next visit.

(We actually went to the Chocolate Tasting but that wasn't a review option.) We arrived slightly early which was perfect because we had plenty of time to have our delicious welcome cocktail and take photos by the Casa Bacardi barrels. Our tour of the grounds was very informative, and the tasting itself was fantastic! Our guide was incredibly knowledgable and didn't just tell us about the five rums we tasted, but also recommend dishes to try at local restaurants and recipes that would benefit from the addition of rum. We only wish there had been more chocolate!

Jomarie or Mary was our tour guide. Mary made it all very fun and exciting while keeping everyone engaged. Mary took her time explaining each rum we tasted and explained how to properly enjoy the rum.

My husband and I did the rum tasting tour. They ask you to get there 30 min early to check in. Each person is given a token for a drink. There are a number of drinks to choose from. 3 are "free" with the token (the mojito was delicous!). The other drinks are an additional $2-3. When it's time for the tour, you hop on a trolley and they take you for a short drive to see a few buildings and give you some history on Bacardi. Then you head into the tasting room. It's a dim-lighted room with a huge U-shaped table. Each person gets a tasting tray with 5 drinks (4 year old rum to 12 year old rum) and a piece of chocolate. The guide walks you through more history and how to taste and smell rum.

I loved hearing the history of the Bacardí family and the significance of the bat on their label. It was interesting to hear a brief overview of how rum is created and why some is for mixing and some for sipping.

You get quick tour of the factory and then into the tasting room. The tasting room is very nice and your guide tells you how to sniff correctly and you sample five great rums. It was a lot of fun. Afterward you can buy a bottle and have your name engraved in it for very cheap. It looks really cool and it’s worth it. They have an outdoor pavilion for drinking before and afterwards. Food is available but you might not know it’s there if you don’t ask. It’s mostly food that you get to go, but the chicken skewers were awesome. You’ll get lots of places to take cool pics while you’re here. It wouldn’t be as cool for people under 21 because the rum testing is the coolest part of going here.
