Roslyn Chapel. There was a problem with the bus on the way there which meant we had to changes buses in Melrose. This lost us some time but was generally handled well.

This experience was an absolute pleasure. From beginning to end, every second was used on appreciation of the beauty of Scotland. I’ve been to many churches and cathedrals all over Europe, but the Rosslyn church has a much deeper hold on a person. By far top three of the must see churches in the world, sir far in my book.
My tour guide Stevie was the best. Very knowledgeable about the landscapes, Scotland's history, and overall a very pleasant person to have a conversation with. He made the trip a lot more memorable. If you’re in Edinburgh, or any part of Scotland, this tour is a must. If you’re lucky to get Stevie as your tour guide, then it will be that much better. A+

This was our second trip to Scotland and we chose this specific tour as an opportunity to see and explore the areas south of Edinburgh which we had not seen. Melrose is a cute village but the Abbey underwhelming to say the least. We pre-booked our tickets to explore it as suggested in the tour details. The Abbey itself was under renovation so we could only explore from the outer grounds and the museum is quite lacking. We were given only one hour in this location so we then quickly made our way to the Inn/pub that our guide had recommended for lunch. When ordering we were clear that we had a very tight schedule. We paid in advance to save on time but after 25 min. no food yet and we had to beg for a switch to pack our food for take away. Half of us rushed to the van to be on time for the meet point and explain the situation. Our driver, Sean, was quite displeased and when the remainder of our group came moments later curtly informed us that there could be no eating on the van despite the fact that several of the other guests were doing so and had been throughout the morning drive. Our next and last stop was Roslin. We enjoyed the chapel but the castle (not disclosed in advance) was closed for restoration. We had to find the driver to request ability to retrieve our lunch from the van. Thankfully the cafe staff in the chapel gift shop were gracious to allow us to do so and we bought some hot tea and biscuits to accommodate. The Walter Scott view was lovely but we were told we had to skip the Wallace monument because we were “running behind” even though this was our first stop and we’d done nothing at that point. Sean offered some knowledgeable narration interspersed with a sampling of Scottish music but this was delivered in a school lecture-type environment where he made it clear that we were not to be speaking amongst ourselves while he talked. This made for a stern environment rather than the relaxed, fun day we had hoped for. Bottom line- an ok tour but the entire agenda could have and should have been accomplished in half the time so as to leave guests with the rest of the day to enjoy as they pleased and/ or included a stop at a local village to enjoy. Also, letting guests know in advance about limitations and closings which may affect their choices of how to spend limited time and perhaps try and match groups based on interest. Sean’s stern lecture style may be appreciated by some but not all.

We booked our trip through Tripmasters and this was one of the excursions we chose for our trip. It was amazing, our guide Aran was very knowledgeable and showed us a good time. The Chapel is beautiful, the monument of William Wallace overlooking Scotland to protect it from England is a beautiful sight, and Scott's View is a peaceful spot to sit and reflect on the life of William Scott and his writings. It is a definite, must see for a little bit of history and amazing sights.
Thanks for a great time!

This was a wonderful trip. Our guide was full of stories about the borders, Melrose and Rosslyn. The Wallace monument was giant, overlooking the lands he protected. Now I understand why those lands were fought over for so many years. Amazing.
