This tour was one of our family’s favorite tour in Italy (we have 2 teenagers). The train was easy to use and they made it very easy to find your guides. Paula, our tour guide was great and our tour of Pompeii was informative and fascinating. The winery lunch and tasting was delicious and the cherry on top of a fabulous day! I highly recommend this tour if you want to visit Pompeii from Rome!

This was an outstanding experience. Even though the train was delayed, the guide at the train station kept us informed. The tour of Pompeii was incredible and our guide, Ida, explained things very well. I have already received comments about the pictures I have uploaded to social media. The lunch and wine tasting were also fantastic and we met some very nice people. I would definitely do this tour again as there is so much to see.

This tour was everything we were hoping for and more! To start, half of our family booked the tour before the rest decided to join. The tour company was helpful and accommodating to make sure we were all together even though we booked separately. It was easy to find and meet the tour representative at Roma Termini and Napoli Centrale. Our guide for the day, Chiara, was a wealth of knowledge and very patient with our tour group. She was very clear in telling us which sections of Pompeii we would be seeing, and we left feeling like we had seen the highlights of the city. The lunch and wine tasting at de Medici winery was a fun addition! We sampled 5 wines and enjoyed lunch before heading back to Rome. We were back in Rome right on time! This was a great and memorable day for all members of our family, ages 9 - 69!

We left Rome on a high speed train for Naples to enjoy Pompeii. Unfortunately, our train was over 45 minutes late… (totally not the tour company’s fault) however, it pushed out our time in Pompeii. The group was also larger and constantly taking restroom breaks, which led others to wander off, to which then led to waiting around for them to reappear (sigh). Fast forward… we finally make it to Pompeii almost 2 1/2 hours late. The tour felt rushed to make up for lost time. I still enjoyed the artifacts and walking around. Pompeii is much larger than I expected.
The wine tour was included but felt like it could have been an additive especially since we lost so much time traveling from Rome. To see Pompeii was truly the reason we hopped down to Naples. I wish we skipped the wine tour since we lost so much time just getting to Pompeii.
Also- this does not include the artifact Museum in Naples which holds MANY artifacts from Pompeii. If you want to fully immerse yourself (like I was hoping) this will also need to be on your list.
I suggest spending a day or 2 in Naples, a day trip from Rome just isn’t enough time to see everything especially with so many moving parts.
Overall the tour guide was kind and knew her stuff about the archeological site. It was nice to not have to deal with the train system and it was taken care of for you. The weather was also beautiful, so that’s a plus!
Didn’t hate it but I wasn’t blown away by it either.

Great tour!!! Our guide was very knowledgeable on Pompeii and all its history, and continually fed us context and stories about the city throughout the day. The tour hits many of the highlights, but you’d need several days to see everything there, it’s pretty large and ever growing excavations continue. Very highly recommended! The add-on winery visit was also good and came with lunch (and lots of wine!), so while I’d rather have spent that time in the ruins, the winery visit was also pretty cool. And, a needed break from all the walking on the rough stone streets of Pompeii.

The tour operator in Rome was wonderful. He communicated well and most of all made sure we got on the correct train and car. The tour operator in Naples was awful. they did not calculate the time to get to the train station to go back to Rome so we were rushed. Then she only made sure we got on the correct platform, but gave no help with the car assignments which were very confusing. We ended up on the wrong car and had to search for empty seats to enable us to sit down on the long trip back to Rome. Naples itself is just a mess. The traffic was horrific and we were not sure we would get to the train station in time. Pompeii was interesting and the tour guide informative. But, we would have seen more if on our own. The lunch was disappointing and was more a sale pitch to buy wine than anything else.

Amazing must do! Guide (I believe her name was Felicia) was fantastic and so knowledgeable ! Train was fast and easy - Pompeii is a short drive away. There are not enough words for Pompeii. Winery afterwards was a lot of fun.

The tour was good. However the train ride back to Rome was complete chaos. The tickets showed double booking fi an entire section of the train car. Passengers squabbling and fighting for seats. This chaos soured the entire experience. Just beware if you take the train be prepared!

Totally amazing trip. Train ride ( complete with snack) was very comfortable, the guide at Pompeii so knowledgeable and the winery was perfect. Lunch was plentiful and really good. Wines all delicious Highly recommend! Hint: meeting place is across from track 1.

We read the reviews on this day trip with Italia Tours and decided to book a day tour to Pompeii with a wine tasting, but I must say I was hesitant as the reviews were to good lol
From the organization, communication from the operator, transportation, winery and specially Antonio our tour guide, everything was excellent and made our trip an amazing experience, despite the rainy day we had, grazie Antonio and Italia Tours!!
