My second visit to the gallery. The last one was in 2006. The gallery is an absolute gem of Rome. I deduct one point for few reasons:
- The gallery is under major renovation offering much fewer opportunities for taking pictures of the villa
- The second floor of the villa is closed for visitors. Paintings from this floor are moved to the Barberini Palace, which can be visited using the Borghese ticket, but you have to pay extra 5euros.
- "Skip-the-line with Host" is not a quite accurate term. Walk-in tickets seem to be unavailable at the day of the visit, they have to be purchased in advance. A "host" standing outside the building simply checks your name on the phone app and gives paper tickets. This is odd because the same could be done by the box office. With this ticket you have to still stay in a short line to have it scanned upon the entry.

Wow! That sums up our experience. The collection of paintings and sculptures is incredible. And then there the actual rooms which are also a work of art. A must do that doesn’t require a lot of time.

The sculptures were incredible! Only downside was that the second floor was closed so we only were able to see half the exhibits but paid full admission.

The ground floor level with its ornate rooms and beautiful works of art was magnificent. Unfortunately, the floor above with the important painting collection was closed. How disappointing that was. We were not notified ahead of time by Viator that half the museum would be closed. Therefore we feel that half the money we paid to visit the Borghese Gallery should be refunded.

The Borghese Gallery and Gardens was a nice way to spend the day. Lots if beautiful artwork and a lovely garden to stroll through afterwards. Our tour operator was just outside the gallery for ticket pick-up, could not have been easier. The tickets had sold out, so anyone who showed up to the museum could not get in. I was so happy I had planned ahead and ordered tickets through this Viator vendor.

This is an amazing art collection and not to be missed when in Rome. So happy we purchased tickets ahead of time - when we arrived at 10:15 they were already sold out for the day and the standby line was almost out the door. Since the upstairs is being renovated, we were offered a visit to the Bernini Museum for a 5E entrance fee when we presented out ticket. It was a short 15 min walk from the Borghese Gallery. We stopped for lunch on the way over and it made for a wonderful day!
