Yvonne was our guide on the Road to Hana and she was phenomenal. She made sure that no stop went to waste and there was always something to learn about the local plants, animals, and culture - we learned so much! She had the most positive attitude about everything, even when things didn't go according to plan and she made our road to Hana adventure something we will never forget. We got so many photos along the way of all of the beautiful landscapes and had so much incredible food. The Valley Isle Excursion experience was great - they came and picked us up on time, took us to breakfast, and we were able to ride around for the rest of the day in a very comfortable and spacious van. We would book with them again!

Loved the black sand beach and lava tube. Enjoyed the sea turtles. Our driver, Joe, was safe on the windy Hana roads, friendly, and knowledgable. Bus with 12 passengers was comfortable, and continental breakfast in beautiful setting was delicious as was our picnic lunch. Great communication re tour timing from Valley Isle

My family very much enjoyed this tour. Breath taking beautiful scenery! Charleston was a wonderful guide. He knew his stuff and made the tour a really good time. He was funny and had us laughing a lot. The teenagers in our group didn’t appreciate the beauty of Hana as much as the adults but they loved Charleston. All of the stops were wonderful. The banana bread! So good! Lunch was also delicious!

I had a fabulous time with the new “family” on the tour! Charleston is a wealth of knowledge & so much fun! I’m so glad I booked this tour & didn’t try & drive myself. I would have missed so many sites & facts about the island. I survived the road to Hana!

The trip was amazing! Let’s start with knowledge. You will gain so much knowledge of Hawaiian culture. You will see majestic sites. Lunch is typical tour lunch, but you will stop for amazing banana bread. Only 12 people or less to bus with captains chairs. There were 32 people on the cruise ship tour cramped in! You will become Ohana on the trip!

It supposed to be 10-12 hours Road to Hana Tour provided by VALLEY ISLE EXCURSIONS. It turns out that instead of 12 hours the Tour Company took care of us for 24+ hours because of the Big Fire which started that day of the August 8, 2023. It was a strong wind in the morning, but our tour guide Paula, a very skillful driver, safely navigated our small and comfortable bus through all the turns of the narrow road to Hana. She provided us with a lot of information on the nature and history of the island, and the life of the local people. Around 6 pm we were back on the West side returning to our hotel tired, but very satisfied with our day trip. The traffic suddenly came to stall at the approach to Lahaina, and we were informed about the fire and the roads closure. Our 12 people group was combined with the second group into the bigger bus, and after 2nd unsuccessful attempt to reach our hotels in Kaanapali we were brought to the only open restaurant in Kinea for the dinner. After the dinner the Tour Company secured a place for our group in the shelter in Pukalani where we were met by Nicole Hutaff-Nakamura, the president of Valley Isle Excursions tour company. Nicole and her bus drivers stayed with our group of 24 through the whole night providing blankets, food and medications, making phone calls and just morally supporting us in the time of the big uncertainty and confusion. This care continued through the morning and Nicole even invited people to stay at her house for the next few days instead of returning to the shelter. I just don’t have enough words to express our gratitude to Nicole Hutaff-Nakamura and her team for the support and care which was provided in this difficult time. It shows big heart and hospitality of the people of Hawaii. We hope that Maui will come back despite big losses and people tragedies.

We were so glad to experience the Road to Hana without having to drive it ourselves--the stops we made were beautiful and we had independence exploring a waterfall swimming area and a couple of volcanic beaches, but we didn't have to worry about parking, or finding restrooms, or lunch, or any of those other hassles. Our guide Apanui was welcoming and very knowledgeable about the plants, landscape, and community, making sure we had a chance to meet some locals and get delicious shave ice and banana bread. Lunch was *so tasty* and local, and we even got a special stop to see sea turtles. Finally, as a tourist of a fragile space with a justifiably ambivalent attitude toward tourists (East Maui is Not For Sale! was one sign we saw) I appreciated being in the company of a local who could guide me in how to be a good visitor. People who drive themselves to Hana sometimes *really* anger the locals by swimming and hiking where they should not, etc. Especially in the wake of the terrible fires, which happened right after we left Hawaii, I feel good about supporting the local economy of this beautiful and historically complex state. Thank you, Valley View!

1 - All we did was ride the bus all day. It was riding and seeing out the window. There were only two enjoyable stops-one at the black sand beach and another at a fresh water waterfall.
