During this 120-minute art tour, through the permanent collection in the Rijksmuseum, you will explore how the artists Rembrandt and Vermeer captured the incredible expansion of the Dutch Golden Age.

See the people, the objects, and the paintings that define this unprecedented era of Dutch history, and explore how the art reflects the changing values and beliefs of the republic.

Meet your guide at the Cobra Cafe at Museumplein. Right at the starting time of the tour, the guide will enter the museum with the group. People who are late will unfortunately loose their ticket, as the museum works with strict timeslots.

After the 2-hour guided tour inside the Rijksmuseum, you can stay as long as you wish, relax at the cafe or continuing appreciating the work of arts.

Frans Hals:
Between 16th of February and 9th of June 2024, you can choose to enter the Frans Hals exhibition (one-hour), continued by a two-hour guided tour in English through the permanent collection.

Ronald was excellent and very approachable. He answered all of our questions and then some. And even navigated the crowds well so that we could visit the Night Watch twice!

Clare took time to make sure her guests were comfortable and understood all her commentaries about the art. She engaged her guests to the paintings and provided context.

The structure of the tour by Clare was excellent- beginning with helpful history and context and then moving on to some analysis of some key works of art. Clare has a very warm and kind manner. She is clearly very knowledgeable and enthusiastic about art. She also has a lovely sense of humour. Highly recommended!

A fascinating insight to the history behind the golden age and 'politics' of painting commissions. Really brought the museum exhibits to life for us!

Our guide, Clare, was fantastic! Her knowledge of the art…and best yet, her true enthusiasm for it, made the tour come alive. We were engaged in her talk the whole time and now have very fond memories of our visit to the museum. This is a must-do while in Amsterdam. ??

The tour guide was racist, I was the only single person in tour when she asked all of us where we were from and I said from Miami, I was the only person she asked if I was in Amsterdam for “holiday or work”, left the tour earlier as her presence was not pleasant, you either had to be from UK or blonde with blue eyes, when she askes my name because she needed to get a head count, she said, you must be “Maritza” meaning she was stereotyping, this was a horrible experience, would not recommend especially if you are single which was the main reason why I decided to pay for a group tour versus going by myself, it should had been better without the guide.
