This tour is ideal for those who want to take advantage of every minute in Costa Rica, discovering some of the country’s nocturnal wonders in a night hike. We will begin our tour in a small town known as La Tigra, located just 30 minutes from La Fortuna. Once we arrive, we will take the trail in to a small patch of rainforest in the process of regeneration with some mirrored lakes, which facilitate wildlife observation. You can expect to see species like nocturnal birds and mammals, insects, amphibians, bats, and more.

The guide was excellent and the family was very friendly. The place was beautiful and the trails were easy. We saw a lot of insects and frogs. Surprisingly we saw an armadillo as well! The whole experience was fantastic!

Wonderful experience.... start to finish. Good bus driver; great tour guides; friendly host family; tons of fascinating frogs, spiders, turtles; sloths, and snakes in the jungle garden at night. Bring a good flashlight. Dinner was simple, but delicious.

Our guides were very good at spotting wildlife that I otherwise would've overlooked. My favorite photo of all I took while in Costa Rica was taken during this walk: a yellow frog with its throat sac filled with air.

Great tour - our guide was really knowledgeable and so enthusiastic about what he was showing us and clearly loves Costa Rica - and you can see why- the family were very welcoming and we were so lucky to see a female sloth with baby - just awesome

If you are looking to see some of the night wildlife with an enthusiastic and knowledgeable guide, look no further! We saw so many critters - iguanas, many amazing frogs, a sloth and a boa constrictor! Plus we had a lovely meal to end off a great evening. Jarvin was an awesome guide and he helped us get some fantastic photos!

Josué went above and beyond to ensure that we had a great experience. He made sure we were all comfortable during the night walk, he had rain gear and we were able to see some amazing frogs. The highlight of this experience is the dinner, hands down. We were able to eat as a family in a beautiful home. The hospitality and love that was shown will make this experience special. I definitely recommend booking this experience!

I would rate this experience as 10+ if possible. Our guide Harvin and our driver were knowledgeable, interesting and very humorous. They were both amazing. Despite the torrential rain we saw several species of frog, a snake, a Banana Spider plus several lizards. Our walk was then followed by a typical Costa Rican meal in a real home. The food was plentiful and tasty and the son of the house played music and sang as we ate. It was all simply magical. Eco terra support the environmental development of local people in a sustainable way ensuring fair distribution of the tourist ‘dollar’ rather than the huge mass touristic tours from La. Fortuna such as the highly disappointing hanging bridges tour.

A night walk is a must in Costa Rica. Andres was our guide and he included fun dialogue of CR culture. The family home was wonderful. Everyone very friendly. So glad this was the beginning of our CR adventure. Highly recommend!

Could not have had a more perfect evening tour! Book this tour, now! Even in the Rainy/Green season. This group and the family you’ll meet provide a very special, memorable evening. We started with a pickup directly from our hotel. We met the Mendez family and started our night tour with our guide, Gabriel, a certified biologist with a focus on ecotourism. The property was beautifully maintained. With cultivated areas as well as more natural growing parts. The variety of plants and animals here would make any master gardener jealous. You’ll get amazing photos and learn so much about the flora and fauna. Our 5 yr old son was fascinated the entire tour. We were all engaged and asking questions and getting great answers. All while the guides worked hard to find as much as possible for us to see. Perfect length tour with so much to see. Even a stubborn sloth up high in the trees. My Costa Rican mother instantly became a part of the Mendez extended family. Their crafts and souvenirs are money well spent. The food was amazing and very traditional. Especially the yuca! Just enough to fill you up and give you a taste of Costa Rican cuisine. The youngest family member learned piano during the pandemic and was proud to serenade us during dinner. His music added a layer of magic to the evening that I can’t fully describe. The terrace. The view of the valley. Book this tour. You will not be disappointed. Gracias todos!
