Racha & Coral Island Day Trip by Speedboat - Lunch Included

We decided to take this trip to avoid the crowds at James Bond Island and Phi phi. The 2 islands are beautiful- especially Racha, and the tour guide, Leo was great fun.

1) The driver was at the hotel lobby as the same time as me, but had totally different names and number of people on his list, so we were running from pillar to post for at least 20 minutes and in the end had to call their number and sort out the issue.
2)At the meeting point, our guide went off to a different area and few of us were lost and had to run crazily all over the pier.
3) Our guide, Armi was not helpful at all and snorkelling was for just 10-15 minutes
4) The speedboat captain was driving recklessly and there were too many bumps and jerks!
5) The trip itself has nothing much to do
6) Food served for lunch was cold
7) Save your money and go for other trips or laze at Kamala beach

The view were amazing and we took many photo. If you have sea sickness, make sure to take the sea sickness tablet offered or bring one recommended by your doctor.

Great day tour picked up from the Hotel and met at a central location only a couple of minutes walk to the dock. Modern well equiped speed boat. Staff very helpful and the driver new his stuff. The ocean was choppy and the crew minimised the situation. Visited the two islands with lunch at the later. Great value and very pleasant day trip. Highly recommend

I wouldn't advise any of these excursions during rainy season. As big as the speedboat is, as good as the crew is, you can be sure to hit some pretty massive waves getting to the 2 islands. On top of that, both beaches at Raya and Coral islands are wayyyy too rough to swim in. On top of that, the locals told us that 2 young men died swept away by the undertow.

I'm pretty sure this excursion would be fantastic if the waters weren't so rough.

Booked the tour weeks in advance, wake up early for the tour and after we asked why the pick up was late they told us they booked the wrong date. No idea how that was even possible when all is crystal clear on Viator. Don't book this tour if you want your plans and day ruined. Only positive thing was that they approved the refund quickly.

What we did to save the day is something we recommend to do instead: go to Ra Wai Beach (Long-tail boats section), compare prices and negotiate hard a visit to Coral island, we were able to pay 1600 Bath for 2 people. You will get the long-tail both for your own group without anyone else joining. A private tour for all passengers for 1600 Bath basically. Just bring your own drinks and food from the 7/11 in front and be ready to pay 100 Bath per person to land at Coral or Banana Beach Club where you can stay for as long as you want without any pressure from a crowded tour as we saw other tour that came.

Go early and you might have the beach for yourself for several hours. The beach is beautiful, we were glad to be able to solve the issue, and were glad to not be without anyone else due to the canceled tour. We think just visiting 1 island is totally relaxing but you can decide to do island-hopping as well.

Good fun day. The pristine waters make it as you would imagine. The tour is good and well organised. They suggest being ready at 7.30 for hotel pick up. There will be a fair bit of waiting around until the speed boat actually leaves the dock which is closer to 10am after waiting for all the various groups to arrive. When you get to Racha the first island, be prepared for 200baht if you want an umbrella shade, and you will !! Lunch was fine, just basic. The coral island was better and probably where we will return by longboat rather than a tour next time. Bring cash for food and drinks.

2 stars for whoever is in charge of this adventure, NOT for the host or boat crew (they were great!!)

My issue is the fact that I was sent a message the night before the excursion instructing me not to “bring too many personal items, a large bag or water shoes”. The message clearly states water shoes would NOT be needed.

When we arrived, the host instructed us the exact opposite, and encouraged us to purchase water shoes at the store they are partnered with. It felt like such a scam. I have my own water shoes! And I didn’t bring them because I was TOLD not to! They proceeded to warn us that our feet could be injured if we did not buy some.

The adventure was ok, very crowded which is expected. The host was very friendly and enthusiastic which I appreciated.

Overall I would not recommend this to my loved ones or friends because of the fact that they tried to make me spend money on something I already own, and was told to leave behind.

Racha is definitely more serene and my pick for the better of the two Islands including the Coral Island. However Coral is more buzzing and offers more things to do on the beach. Overall loved the trip and snorkelling in turquoise blue waters. A good trip overall. Kids enjoyed througout

Overall, there are better trips around Phuket for snorkelling and beaches but they are further away and more expensive. We thought this would be a good extra trip with a shorter boat ride but it wasn’t really worth it.
The first stop at Racha Island involved snorkelling off the boat, but as there were so many boats in the area the water was a bit murky. We then went into the beach and we were supposed to meet for lunch but when we got to the designated meeting spot at the correct time the group had already left without us and another 8 people from our group. It took some messages and phone calls to get picked up for lunch (by which stage there wasn’t much food left at the buffet). The second trip to Coral Island was fine, the beach is bigger so less crowded and nice to have a swim and do some activities.
The guides were very friendly but leaving behind group members without noticing for so long is quite stressful!
