Enjoy a sightseeing tour to the windmills, the countryside, a local cheese and clogs factory, Volendam and Marken.
You will visit a unique Dutch park called the Zaanse Schans not far from Amsterdam. Here are the most special windmills of The Netherlands such as the paint windmill, the sawmill, spices mill and peanut oil.
Thereafter you will see how we make the original Dutch clogs and there is a possibility to buy clogs/wooden shoes and souvenirs.
The second stop will be at the Henri Willig farm where they will teach you how they treat their cows and there is a possibility to see how they milk the cows and you can see and touch the baby cows. Thereafter it is time to taste more than 30 types of very nice Dutch cheese for free! Your next stop will be Volendam and Marken where you can lunch in one of the best fish restaurants in town, buy some very nice Dutch waffles or enjoy the nice Harbor of Volendam.
Duration of the tour will be 6.5 hours, pick up and drop off is in Amsterdam.

We so enjoyed the one-on-one attention from Sonny, our driver. He knew how to avoid the crowds and waited on us when we wanted to shop. We enjoyed every stop and would've like to have spent more time in each place, but we understood the the constraints of tour time.

Wonderful! Miguel was amazing Also did canal cruise and very good. Lots of walking — more than expected Marken ok but not as impressive as thought.

We booked this private tour with high expectations. The transportation was superb. Our guide was good but not great. Of the 7 windmills at the same place, only one was available without addition 5 Euro charge for each. The demonstration of making wooden shoes by machine was interesting and set a stage for the next stop where we saw them made by hand. There we were also given a talk about how cheese is made in this small factory. Very interesting, We drove to another town and had a delicious lunch. After that, we went to a terribly tacky tourist trap of a town where there was nothing but junk. This was a total waste of time in our opinion.

Our guide and driver for the day, David, was a wealth of information about the places we visited. OK, so we basically visited many of the tourist hot spots near Amsterdam, but the extra cost was well worth it. At the start of our visit at the windmills, the weather was a bit drizzly, but before we could grab a raincoat, David was there with a pair of umbrellas for us to use. Such service. Apart from the "being there" moments, a true highlight was the visit to the Cheese and Clog workshop. Impressive demo on how clogs are made by hand and a taste test of the various cheeses was enough for us to purchase a small example to bring home with us... unfortunately, baggage weight restrictions prevented us from purchasing a pair of clogs this time. Overall, we would highly recommend this private tour. cheers
