This is a private tour only for you for you from start to finish with private transport and guide. The pick up will be at 5 am at the address of your accommodation in Mexico City. These thermal pools are located in the state of Hidalgo, 4 hours from Mexico City. In Tolantongo we will have fun and relax in the 40 thermal pools (each one with a different and beautiful design), in the grotto and in the incredible blue river. Everything filled with thermal water. The average water temperature is around 34 - 38° C. In this tourist center we will find restaurants, shops and showers. The time in Tolantongo will be 5 hours. You will be able to take incredible photos and enjoy this nature in the middle of a great canyon.

It was an amazing experience, we got there early and there weren't much people there, we had pools for ourselves. Only at the entrance to the cave was it a little bit crowded, because many people just stayed there and didn't went in.
We took quite a lot pictures which looked like we were alone.
The water was really warm and it was so relaxing to soak in the pools and later in the river.

Tolantongo hot springs was breath taking excursion and our private tour was made more amazing and fun by our guide Andrew.
There were three phases to this excursion. First we relaxed in the hot spring pools. The view of the large mountain range while relaxing in the pools was breath taking. It is almost felt like you are in an infinity pool. After a brief lunch in one of the many restaurants, we visited the grotto with a spectacular waterfall. Lastly, we chilled in river before heading back. We were at the Tolantongo for about 5 hrs.
Although the drive from Mexico City and back was almost 8 hrs on the road, our guide made the journey fun and very informative. We stopped by street vendors and other local cafes for interesting bites. He explained and learned about the life and culture of people in daily situations in Mexico. He was very accommodating to our requests and questions.

We had a fantastic private mid week tour to Tolantongo with Ruben.
I would highly recommend going on this tour as there is no rush or waiting around on other people.
They structure the tour so that you get there early and miss the crowds at the pools which meant we were able to have a pool to ourselves (most people seem to go to the Grutas first). When we left to go to the caves and river, the pools had begun to fill up with families with children. The caves were quite full when we go there however as we went to the river in the afternoon we were able to get space to ourselves there as well.

The trip was amazing and Ruben was an outstanding tour guide and very helpful.
The pools were a bit crowded as the visit was during the weekend but this did not affect the trip. They have nice restaurants their where you can get a snack.

My experience with Epic Journey Mexico's trip to Tolantonga Grutas was utterly disappointing and disheartening. From start to finish, it was a nightmare filled with delays, incompetence, and disregard for customer safety.Firstly, the tour operator, Epic Journey Mexico, has a track record of unprofessionalism and negligence. Numerous reviews online highlight their habit of showing up late, ignoring customer requests, and providing subpar service. This was evident from the moment our tour began, as we were left waiting for our guide who arrived nearly an hour behind schedule.Once the tour finally commenced, it quickly became apparent that our guide lacked the knowledge and enthusiasm expected for such a trip. They provided minimal information about the destination and seemed disinterested in catering to our needs or answering our questions.Moreover, the journey itself was marred by discomfort and safety concerns. The vehicle provided by Epic Journey Mexico was in poor condition, with uncomfortable seating and inadequate air conditioning. This made the long drive to Tolantonga Grutas unbearable, especially considering the scorching temperatures of the region.Upon arriving at Tolantonga Grutas, our dissatisfaction only grew. The site, known for its stunning natural beauty, was marred by overcrowding and poor maintenance. The facilities were unsanitary, and the lack of organization made it difficult to enjoy the experience fully.In summary, Epic Journey Mexico's trip to Tolantonga Grutas was a complete disaster. Excellent service. Driver was on time for pick up. He was also resourceful because on the way there, they had closed the main highway and figured out a way to go around the nightmare block that would have taken us extra hours. On the way back we asked the driver to stop at a barbacoa taco place and it was delicious. The food inside the park was only burgers and hotdogs. If you want personal experience and not wait for other people this is your tour. ✅
