We joined the Private Day Tour of Salzburg, Hallstat & Melk from Vienna on 26 Dec 2023. Our driver Ivan had done a great job to drive us to the destinations and back to Vienna safely. Many thanks to Ivan!
We enjoyed most the sceneries at Hallstat & Salzburg. However, we were a bit disappointed as there were no local guides in view of the expensive package price. Hope the operator/ TripAdvisor can look into this for future improvement.

First of all, I want to say actually this was a very good tour to visit but:
8 of us started with the tour in a very happy mood because will visit 3 places in a day, but end up with some disappointed emotion due to a happening after visited Hallstatt for a police inspection between driver, there caused we reached Salzburg in very late evening and couldn’t visit sightseeing in very dark condition.
Driver is patience & pleasant but the happenings caused us been wasted time just waiting inside van for about 2 1/2 hours and we didn’t know what’s the incident caused.

The scenery in the Alps were beautiful. Hallstatt was beautiful as well. Unfortunately our tour guide had very little knowledge of the locations that we visited. We were looking forward to. Learning about and seeing were some of the scenes from Sound of Music were filmed. Our tour guide had zero knowledge of the locations

WARNING THIS IS A CAR SERVICE NOT A TOUR. YOU WILL BE SO DISAPPOINTED. These guys are criminal. Paid over 600 Euro. Driver was from Slovakia with limited English. No idea where he was going. Relied on GPS and still made wrong turns. Smoked so the car reeked. We had to stop for him to smoke. Dropped us off in closed town TWICE. Thankfully I had demanded only 30 minutes. He was trying to make us stay 2 hours.
We had 1 pm lunch reservations. Which I advised from the start. Arrived in Salzburg at 1:45 NO LUNCH FOR US BUT CHARGED A CANCELATION FEE.
Dropped us off in a Closed park. That was just the best way to end... No information about Austria. Not one bit of information. ZERO. Still trying to wrap my head around this nightmare rip off.
You have been warned.

Viator cancelled our trip that was s heduled for over a month at the last minute
We were very disappointed as this was a celebration of 38 wedding anniversary

Deyan was an excellent driver on this private trip. He was very nice, and gave us a great drive around these beautiful cities. Now I must say this is not a guided tour, it is simply a tour where you get dropped off in the cities. Deyan did give us a map in Salzburg where you can see the different Sound Of Music sites.

Our request for 2 hotel pick-up and drop-off points were well-accommodated. The three locations were impressive and worth visiting.
Our driver was able to provide options for drop-off and pick-up for the 3 locations when we shared our concern about our senior citizen companions. How we wished that our driver shared more about what is special with the locations. It was a disappointment that he only answered whenever we asked. We soon found out that our driver was not from the area and was only 2-3 months in Vienna. How we wished we were provided more interesting facts about the locations.
In Salzburg, we were just dropped off in one area and we were provided a map for us to explore. We expected that we will be dropped off in filming locations, but we were left to roam around on our own. It would have been better off to join a Sound of Music tour but we had less time to join one.
Generally, it was a worthwhile experience, but how we wished we were toured well.
